@urban garden You just have to keep destroying the rocks that spawn elsewhere on your island each day until they respawn on those spots. It can take time, so you need to be patient, but nothing's wrong with your setup

@urban garden wherever you see the rock spawn that isnt what you want, break it and put an item in its place. Do a double sweep of the island then try again. Rinse repeat. Patience is the name of the game with rock gardens. Good luck!

@craggy pollen I think maybe it would look better if it were more open? I know that it's tempting to put cliffs surrounding the entry when you have terraforming, but I personally like more open entrances.
If you're really stuck on the cliffs, maybe put some flowers or waterfalls? (On top of them I mean)

@safe linden Do you mean like a children's park? There are items you can get at the Nook Stop for Nook Miles, like the sandbox or springy ride-on. I also put a tulip surprise box (if you have the diy) in mine. Finally, there's a lot of wooden-block furniture items, including a bench, that I think would fit a park theme

@copper shoal I'd make the tunnel through the cliff a bit broader, add some more trees for height and smooth out the cliffs. You can maybe make a plaza with some benches, bushes and a fountains at the empty area at RS.

@civic pelican when I got the fossils I just added them together. So for instance the trex has 3 pieces. The head, torso, and tail. And I just saved up for each fossil set I used!

@civic pelican no, you just dig up fossils and have them assessed as normal, and hopefully you collect the fossils you want (ex. T. Rex head, torso, and tail) and then place them. Sometimes it takes a while to stock up on the ones you want, so be patient!
Although there's also #fossil-gyroid-trade too

id recommend flattening out 1/4 of the island (in a corner, by RS, or by the airport) and work from there

I literally flattened the whole thing, closed up the rivers, etc... and wound up finding a starter map I liked and built that just so I could make some kind of progress... and now my islands almost done 🥺

yeah i had everything in an urbanized neighborhood vibe, and completely flattened with the idea I had. now it's a rustic forest with an abandoned speak easy ruins, various little tunnels, and lots and lots of wine
and i have 2 more houses to move off the beach and into their locations... you CAN do it, just make sure you know what you want for certain beforehand

I love seeing cottagecore, but I got so dizzy from getting lost on my cottagecore island and having lots of weeds and flowers etc. Its very pretty but its not the style I love the most, so I went for a more organized clean and modern nature x city island^^

@cobalt bronze did you try putting it on the side? It might help you safe some space and you can still do the waterfall or double stairs on each side

@mighty galleon If you're talking about removing bodies of water on your island, you need the terraforming app on your Nook Phone. The water option is on a blue background when you touch "+" on the switch to bring up the terraform options once construction has begun.

@frigid sluice It's a small area but maybe a postal box location for all residents to use? Though you only get the USPS looking mailboxes after a number of house upgrades. Otherwise I'd say maybe a small seating area for a mini library

@misty palm what's your general theme? You could put in some gardens, a path off to that residential area with like lamps and park benches etc

I try to remember that water naturally follows a path of least resistance, so making sure smooth out bends and if it's an area that kind of at a hard stop it might be more eroded so wider.

I also saw a very good tip to make your side uneven, meaning if you're going from north to south your river may indent left or right by one square on only one side, and alternate

I've come to realize that if you arent putting villagers in a neighborhood, then you can use their houses as another decoration for whatever area you're trying to build. Want to have a focal point for a forest? Add a house as a cabin in a clearing. Zen area? Could use a house.

@cloud marsh thats an amazing idea too! i wanted my last four villagers to be more spread out because ive found that having the lake-like area in the top right, they spend a lot of time there rather than walking around my island. i might use your idea for a zen area and forest area and make plots for the last two!
