Im currently working on filling in the tiny spaces left on my island. There’s a lot of space on the pier I want to decorate. Any recommendations/ideas (I can move the lighthouse, and I’m aiming for a natural, cottage-core kinda feel for my island)??

@left beacon my best advice is to start with an entrance. look at lots of inspiration and use your favorite ideas to make it your own. For my entrance, i started copying a certain entrance I saw on a dream island and then I just made it my own. I would also suggest using lots of color. Color makes everything look better!

Baby girl what color scheme are you after? The zodiac series ahs a beautiful virgo harp white/gold. Then theres a wooden harp that's reasonably large and cheaper. Its beige and natural. If you're going for gold and such then try the wedding organ in chic. As well as grand piano etc. Can decorate with more zodiac items but it's pretty pricy

@wary birch I'd suggest diving the area. With a big area like that, you should use the instruments as a natural barrier to a seating area. You could also use bushes to divide the space or the rope fencing

I'd argue that theres not always a need for seating. Moreover seating kind of takes a lot of space when instruments already take a lot of space. Maybe a small chill corner with a table and some chairs sure, but I'd focus on planning the instruments

That's really rough. I mean a break from the game can help for sure. I took about 2 weeks after I finished the first version of my island before I started remaking the majority of it. Burnout is a very real thing, and varying whatever task you're doing on your island can help if you don't want to quit the game

like I get burned out incredibly quickly by villager hunting, so I'll break it up with working on parts of my island instead

3. waterfall valleys:
   this one is a little hard to explain but here’s a rough process. you can easily vary the size and amount of waterfalls depending on the space you are in. leaving an empty block makes it easier to add flowers as seen in my personal valley

Nice answers! I've been thinkin about mine! I remember my first few villagers from wild world when I was 13, but low nostalgia to get them back. It's weird. I'm more selectful based on implied personality and what I can do with their character. Like give Ruby a tux and top hat and magic show set cause she's a white bunny, or dressing Curt in a security uniform and giving his bandaged forehead some story etc etc. I like writing through scenery and characters.

tbf the characters in the game are very surface level, so mostly they have just their appearance. There's a few unique interactions (like my mathilda flirts with apollo because they have high compatibility) but mostly people just pick based on looks or house looks

Personally I would make a hole here and put a tree. Or you could put the fountain there in the middle, and make maybe a seating area where the fountain currently is :)

@zealous summit I think that sounds good! And the set up looks good so far! The tailors can have a sewing area, clothing shop, nail salon/hair salon! There’s a bunch of things you can include there and potentially could extend it to the beach. And I think there’s enough room for the houses! Whether you spread them out or do a neighborhood!

@fringe heron what kind of vibe are you going for in that area? The only thing I can think of rn that's not crafted is a Redd statue -- otherwise one of those crafted sign post (the tall one) and a stone well would fit there!

@heady edge are you trying to make a path around the rocks? What I did with my mini rock garden that's smaller than yours is just pave down a stone path around the entire area and laid a custom path over it (there would be a awkward green spot around the rocks tho but it's not too bad)

@fringe heron ohh, reading spot. Kinda overused, but a picnic area always goes well with those. Customized cushions, custom blanket, picnic basket/cherry blossom picnic set, some open books (also those books/pouches the villagers drop if you decide to not return them after a day )

@heady edge I actually like it! Can't do much about the green spots around the rocks but it looks good :) You can try adding some bushes in the empty spaces between the path and flowers as well and see how you like it ~

I agree that it is overused haha, same with the coffee area next to it. (This is by the museum too)
I already made a picnic area which is next to Sylvana's house so I didn't wanna use that idea again. (oh I know there's the lost item books, I'm gonna wait for one to spawn though!)

Though, I do wanna make mine more than just a reading area, since it feels like it won't work out as one. (Plus, I'm still thinking of making my home into a witches' lair, which means it'll have a library)

@fringe heron Everytime I see someone do something witchy I get inspired bc it looks so cool and I'm thinking of redoing my island soon into a darker theme~ but anyway, if you don't mind extending the witches lair idea a lil bit onto the island itself, you can add a cauldron (those crafted iron pots) in the area with a bunch of books and some candles (and maybe a lab set?) around to make it look like an outdoor potion study/ concoction area? Also you can add customized simple panels that look like potion shelves ~

Oh I'm definitely doing that, My witch resides next to a swamp! (you can say she's a humble swamp hermit/witch too) But I hope you have fun redoing your island if you do go with it!
