@civic anchor start with your entrance and work your way around. Maybe focus on a theme that you guys like, but you of course don’t have to stick to that theme. My overall theme is tropical resort, but I have themed areas for my villagers rather than yards. Decide if you want your villagers in one area or scattered. And decide how you want to implement it. I suggest moving everything to the beach to give the most room to work with.

@civic anchor If one of you likes the more rural look and the other one likes the more modern look, you could always split the island in half and try to blend the two areas in the middle. Some people like to split it from left to right or bottom to top.. just depends on how you want to place your stuff

@quartz violet start with one area at a time. Decide if you need certain areas to be smaller or larger. Decide if you actually need that area to see if it actually makes sense on your island.

@quartz violet a lot of people tend to make certain areas larger than what they actually need to be. People also tend to space out their furniture when it’s not necessary. All you need is to have enough room to move essentially. Everything does not have to be functional. It’s not like you’re gonna have guest all the time. So it doesn’t have to be functional. If you have too many flowers, hire someone to get rid of them in the #flower-plants-trade or sell them.

Back to the endless questions 😅 How do you guys section off the bits of island, and how do you cope with having to move the houses

@civic anchor it just depends on how you make your areas flow together. Some people use cliffs, fences, and rivers to section things. I suggest moving all the houses to the beach. It will cost you a lot but worth it

To section off areas of the island i like to use cliffs and trees because they have good height, using some valleys is a good way to connect areas of the island, rivers are also obviously good at separating areas as well. I planned where i wanted all the houses using paths before i moved them because i dont have enough money to move them to the beach and then to their positions, but i imagine moving them to the beach would make it a lot easier to terraform ur island

@civic anchor some people like to do massive areas for villagers, and others like to do residential areas to give it a more urbanised look

@civic anchor if you plan on scattering you’re villagers, then you don’t necessarily need to move them until you have a perfect spot for them. I originally had them in one area, but then I decided to scatter them to make it more natural. But I only moved each villager until I knew I had a spot open for that area.
