Thanks for the input! I think I'll keep the border for now. It's made specifically to have the border stones be right at the edge when you lay it over a path.
I think the fence would not look as good if it was on top of the pattern as it will stick out outside of the fence but I might try it out and see how it looks.
If I find a design I want, I'll get rid of the border

1 there's no real need to compete as long as you are happy with it,
2 it's fine to start with something simpler and iterate later when you get better at island crafting,
3 don't be 'hyped' by some of the 'super gorgeous' pictures out there tbh, that was relying on Instagram filters, crop shot, photoshopping, special camera angles to make views not reflective of what's in the game.

I think your island looks really good from the map, you are using your space well. Thats why I suggest just connecting the rivers and adding a pond ( you need one for fishing for pond fish, unless you dont really fish in game then it doesnt matter)

I also was, I wanted everything to fit perfect and use every single are for either a park cafe or what ever I could make and at the end I ended up hating it.

this was was island before and it was all very very square and covered in paths and it just didnt feel fun to play in it.

So I decided to think about, what do I need to have on the island to be sure I can have fun to play on it and what items I can use. I then worked on terraim and planning the sections

But overall the best thing that helped me was youtube and istagram for section ideas

@hallow pilot a lot of people with close entrances use cliffs to block the view of the RS and make a path that diverts visitors left or right to entire the RS from a side entrance :) it can give the illusion that the RS isn't as close because people have to walk a certain distance. If you utilize the search bar here you can most likely find a few people's post on their close entrances for inspo!

Does anybody have tips on what to do with the area behind a building that is on a cliff? The building is in the way of the camera view when I stand behind it on the lower level.

Idk where to move my house...it’s currently blocking where the museum I just moved behind it on one level up from the main ground...it needs to be moved so I can make a ramp to it....but like it be where a few of my villagers were SE shore of the map...On the cliff that is from B4 square and little left of the brown retangle to right of very edge of that cliff little into B5, but not sure what to do with the shape of that spot for terraforming the back of it...

The three dots and 2 dots to right of my moon are my rocks btw

@trim quartz You leave an open space and stand there or put like a stone seat there and they can shimmy across it, though be aware that people can jump off your airport pier into the water and swim around any fences!

So just be aware of that and keep an eye on when people come in to make sure they don’t do that

@heavy cobalt i don't think fences would be good on the beach if you want u can put harv's fences or corral fence or just no fence and make it open, if u want a surf shop make sure u have a counter like the ones in the shop and surf boards at the back
