@woven drift i personally like to have them scattered. it gives them more room to have larger areas. usually i give my villagers themed areas. like marshal owns a cafe, sprinkles owns a ice cream parlor, alice owns tiki bar and restaurant, audie owns a surf shack. merengue owns a diner, and drago owns a onsen, my other characters dont really have jobs, but they have their areas. like erik will be the park ranger near my campsite. julian has his own mystical cove. while marina and poppy are together in my water bungalow resort area.

@vernal lagoon I understand that! I'm kind of in that position too. I'd recommend taking a pic of your island and then using an editing tool to mark out sections so you can figure out what goes where! It helped me quite a bit

@lethal thunder what theme are you going for? Can't rly tell what's in your map with just the map view. For ease of catching bugs tho, I think designating an area with trees planted sparsely and lots of flowers will help with your bug catch rate :)

@lethal thunder yeah! You can definitely try that out. Maybe put the forested area near the campsite? If you're in NH it's beetle season so you'd be able to catch a lot of those if you plant palm trees along your beach :)

Tbh idk why I thought I had to flatten my island. I didnt get the idea from anywhere but for some reason I just knew when I unlocked terraforming I had to flatten it.

but i did a lot of little tweaks. i pulled the middle river's waterfall forward so the main focal point at my main pathway is a double waterfall with bridges on either side. then i knocked back a hollow for my campsite. other than that minor river reshaping, a few cliffs/ponds to work into my gardens and things
i went into the game pretty blind. this is my first AC game and i didn't reset to get different maps. i just picked one of the four given to me and i chose this one because i felt like it was naturally really well divided which from the start kinda helped me set up "regions" on my island and i started planning within what i had before i realized people even did bulldoze and start from scratch

i think if you built up some cliffs to the right of your airport that then kinda curve in front of the plaza, you could direct traffic to the left. setup your shops/museum in that area left of your plaza, and then people can enter your plaza from the left

@dry flint you can use the creator codes similar to as you would with clothes (by typing in the codes) or if you find a QR code and have the Nintendo switch online app, you can scan the QR code and add it to your designs as well. But you’d have to get each path code one by one unless it’s done by the same creator

It's a little messy but I like to make my rivers all curvey and uneven so that it feels natural.
the second river is still a WIP since im still figuring things out for it!

But what I do is use a shovel next to where the river is and make it all curvey. Then use the waterscaling tool to cover it up.
