@magic wedge great advice from @jade fiber above, I would definitely recommend placing an item or flower in the blank spaces to “justify” the paths being offset, that’s how it works in the real world and it works just as well here as a design element!

yeah, actually while going up those stairs you’d see only one white straight line which would be just blinding. Symmetry implies monumentality which I guess doesn’t go with the cute river theme.

Plant more tree variaty. More trees as A hole'd be good. Maybe an archway? You would have to move some stuff but it'd look better maybe.
Try placing streetlamps to break Up the skyline and Put benches next to the fountain. People (and villagers) want Things to do on your island. Even if its Just sitting yk-
Don't make everything so flat and symmetrical. Try placing- idk flower carts or fallen trees (log benches) or something along those lines to make it Look Alive and more busy.
Those- uhhh- canalisation- things. Idk what they are called would Detail the Floor, as well maybe some leafpiles.
Also- maybe you shouldnt use the Floor pattern. If you are Not going for a black theme specifically, use the games actual paths. They have actual Walking Sounds and Look more fitting with the envoirment. (Just a Suggestion)

Villager houses can be put on the beach as well for temporary relocating as part of a larger reorganizing. If bells are a concern, grab a wetsuit from the store, sea creatures have a much higher average profit takein than bugs and fish do.

yeah, I've spent 30 minutes clearing out trees and flowers and it is hard to see in my mind what would be aesthetically pleasing

The biggest obstacle honestly is knowing that future content is coming, or even just not having what you need. It doesn't help that so many of the best items for decoration are seasonal, like mushroom or cherry blossom stuff.

@tender cradle you should be able to make a pirate boat area on that piece of land. i was able to squeeze my pirate stuff onto a rock thats about that same size piece of land. you just need to portion how much items can fit into that area

@amber moon its a good option to have when you want to decorate indoors. some ppl have bakeries, cafes, hotels, bars, restaurants, spas etc. in those houses

@amber moon yeah! rather than just a regular house, theres a lot of alternatives to turn it into something else. plus we have all those wallpapers and flooring that we dont use. theres a reason why people can change the house into different things.
