I think I finally found a theme for my island, I felt so lost because I wanted to do a natural forest feel but now I wanna make my island entirely based on swamps and very watery/damp places. (It's still going to be foresty but with a twist. ^^)

@soft glacier you could align a diagonal bridge to the right side, to a 4 square wide path (2 squares of path and 1 square of decoration like flowers or bushes on each side) that goes between the shop and resident services

We were trying random custom pathing and unwittingly moved our first two stones that way. But placing your custom design as a mannequin is what people seem to recommend everywhere. Any particular reason why you want to do a path?

*And to clarify they were custom designs on dirt, stone, terra cotta paths when it first happened. We had marked our areas and to contrast I'd filled the entire 'plot's with paths of different types and put custom designs so my wife can see what's where when she logs in, and we moved stones inadvertently as a result.

They will appear on flowers unfortunately, place mannequins if you have 3x3 spots with only flowers. Edit: Nope that was unitentional custom path on anything should work. But like I said in the previous sentence, you could end up with a stone surrounded by flowers. It's in slowmode so I keep editing my response. imagine an empty spot surrounded by 8 flowers, a stone could spawn there.

@pale lintel I always lik to find three types of flowers that go well together and match their houses. I don't know what personality they are but you can always put a gym for jocks, a small library for normal villagers and so on. Just go after their personality, species, colour scheme and what you think they would like.

Hi, I would like some help with layout ideas please.

I had my residential area in the two thin strips either side of the map, but it didn't work for me. I like the idea of small groups of houses together, but with larger, personalised gardens. However, due to placement of the residential services and the river, I am struggling to space them nicely.

I need space for my house (well, garden), I was thinking about moving it the back on the top level. I plan to have little areas around my shops too, so the narrow strips at the far edges of the map are a bit of a waste.

@empty aspen keep the width that you are placing the bridge 4 wide but make the length of the river longer, like 7 or 8 long so that way you have a lot of space to place the bridge. also be sure to have 2 spaces between where you are placing it and resident servicees.

@long stream a few people posted pictures. I think the main thing you need as a stall or table displaying a espresso maker. And some chairs with coffee tables on there. You could do bookshelves to give it an indoor feel? You could add plants to give it a little greenery
