i thought i had an 100% solid idea and then i flattened and my idea went to crap... just start with little areas

@cyan siren How i did my island is that i terraformed as needed, only when i was working on that area ^^ Having a blank island to work with can be incredibly demotivating, unless you're one of those people who have already gone and made a plan of your island. I never did my cliffs in one go, or my rivers in one go, your island will never be finished in one go either so there's no need to be so hasty and flatten everything now. Really do not recommend flattening, it actually makes it harder to come up with ideas IMO since you have nothing existing to work with

adding cliffs and terraforming, big furniture, and lots of trees can really help with short entrances... force your entrance to be a longer way by building cliffs and such!!

@red briar Something that seems to help some people make natural looking rivers is to take a look at actual rivers on google maps satellite images! Personally I just tweak the river until it looks right

That said, i had quite a few fruit trees and coconut trees on the beach so i could still get wood, and now i'm in the process of replanting normal trees

They used stalls, outdoor tables and cushions with these fish designs and it looked pretty good! @hushed nexus Yeah hahaha, when i do the villager yards i usually either use a 1 wide path or place rounded off paths in a 3x2 area by the door of their house. If i did fat paths all the way, it would look horrible lol, here's an example of me using the 1 wide paths

I was also thinking about making the colors less contrasting so that it appears more subtle. the only issue with making blank tiles is that there is 1 blank square on each tile so that it fits over terracotta (i love the terracotta shape/texture). so on a blank tile unless i have a similar color to terracota i will have to find the perfect square to have blank

@woven drift I have a cottagecore island myself, so I'd personally add more types of white flowers, and maybe throw in some yellows or pinks. Make sure to add some bushes and decorative items too!

I took down my waterfalls there too as I don’t want waterfalls that close to the entrance as they’re so loud and my villagers lee sitting in my way when I’m tryna get to the airport!!!
