you could do that! in general though maybe try that as the path shape and play with elevation too if you like
a really restrictive entrance that cuts off sight lines will make it seem longer

what if you did something like this? split the path in the middle so it kinda disguises the fact that it was off-center, and put some trees (the green dots) to hide it a bit more

you can also break up the solid path by randomly putting path tiles down as well, i saw it in a few 5 island star videos. it looks pretty on the map and it doesn't even need to line up down there.. now if you don't care much about how it looks on the mini map then solid is great as well but.. .. i'm rambling.... TL:DR - 1) use trees + fencing (zen is probably best for this?) to mask the field of view .. 2) use spot-pathing so you can mask the mini map better

@quasi eagle Try making your diagonal stretch longer and then fixing after you position your bridge. That helped me figure out where the collision box was.

Here's my island layout so far. I didn't want straight angled paths so I tried my best to replicate river paths to make it seem natural. The squarish stuff are fruit tree orchard for each fruit (still have to do one more). Ignore everything else outside of the main island where the town hall is. :p I also plan to spread out the villagers since I want them wandering around the whole island instead of one area.
