well, I know you can't have them go directly in a long ramp up the levels, you need a gap between them for that
I would assume but am not 100% sure that if you have them side by side on the same level, you would need a gap of at least 1, but am not sure

Much in the same way I'm 90% certain that you can't go ramp -> bridge right next to it, you need a small gap
but it's whether that gap is 1 tile, or 2, or more that I don't know
someone in questions channel says they think it's a 2 tile minimum between bridge/bridge or bridge/incline, but I'll double check tomorrow

personally no, I just used pen and paper to sketch out a rough idea and just did the rest ingame. The tool can be useful for getting a general idea of what you wanna do, but it's always gonna look way different when you're actually walking around in it, so you're probably gonna make changes anyway

Ahh, I can't decide if I wanna do a natural island with houses far apart all having their own areas
Or if I want to do a main area where all the houses are so I can see my villagers interact with eachother.

I have "natural style", keeping island island-like and not like a city, but I did the area where all the villagers are grouped together
easier to find them, talk to them and also more interaction
I think it works well with such style too

I feel like houses far apart is a lot easier to look nice since you can pick good sight lines for each house pretty easily
But ive been having a hard time making a cool looking mini city because you have to design all 10 houses as one mass thing so its defiantly a lot more work but looks better in the long run

But I just.. don't know how to plan a residential area and make it look good.

Just don't do what I did and put down a bunch of stuff then decide you hate it and then have to recanvus all of the grass back

Oh, I've already done that. I've also placed an entire second layer and had to redestroy it, which is what I'm doing now. xD

I like using either walls or the cliffs to make the 4x4 tile spaces and then just imagine the roads

btw does anyone have any cool ideas for flower breeding that looks well? I use x-pattern obviously, but somehow can't make it look pretty with fencing or anything else

A thing I like doing is putting down some key furniture I know will be in an area and push the thumb stick in to get that close up view, and work on the area until it looks cool

My biggest thing for close together towns is the road design. Its really hard to make cool looking roads and ally ways on such a small space
