Most of the time it's random inspiration and it usually never end up as planned, I think it gives an organic feel to my island and I like that !

hey! i'd like some advice with my island and how to manage my space, as i've never been good at this kind of thing. this is my un-edited island!
and this is my current idea. all the cliffs have already been terraformed but i'm not sure what to do with all of the extra space around the paths. i'm worried there is a better way to plan my paths and building in order to allow less frequent larger open spaces than more frequent smaller spots like i have now.
i'd really appreciate any feedback/ideas that anyone has! i'm loving the game so far but i have no idea what to do with all the empty space around my island. thank you so much to anyone who responds/helps! ❤️

just to lyk, if you're growing them in the orchard instead of placing pre-grown trees, saplings won't grow unless they have at least 2 free spaces around them
so it might be a good idea to grow trees beforehand and then move them into the orchard if you want only 1 space between
or if you want a greater distancing just ignore that lol

A general tip I learned that might help you if you're not already overflowing with creativity like many here (seriously awesome stuff)
What tends to make an island feel "bigger" has lot to do with detailed space management. 9 times out of 10 you can convey an area well enough by furnishing a 5x5 block space instead of dedicating too much unnecessary "courtesy room" for things. Also, whenever you're in doubt, simple is generally best when it comes to pretty flower gardens. Huge help for me!

Ah gotcha. I think shapewise the face looks great. You could definitely do ponds in the ears / for the eyes/nose if you wanted but that depends on how much space you want on the interior I think.

I tried the ponds in the ears sorta in the rough draft 3 and it gave it an odd shape but I did have cliffs as well so it was a really weird circle - although I did change the ear shape in rough draft 4 so maybe I could try it again. I'll try to test that out and see if it works well, when I made it a bit bigger during rough draft 2 it looked very weird because the very tip of the corner of the resident services wasn't terraformable but I could take it all down one square for the \ line and see still

@indigo pier What if you put your house down 1 lvl and make it like a secluded area with mountains around your house? that way you only need 1 incline down to the beach, then you can keep the others. You will see the other inclines more cause they're more around the area you'll usually be
