hey! i am trying to plan out my island on an island planner but i'm struggling getting my rivers right. any pointers?

@frank gale are you building your town based on where the rivers are located or vice versa?

For me I'm placing my rivers down after the set pieces are established, and I think it helps a lot in my case. If you want the rivers to be a highlight of the town, put them down first and build from there

as for the specific program i have no idea i have never used it

it's meant to look unnatural ! it's a bit of the point of the mystery that is being played into the
island as V (the character i play) is very controlling and must have everything his way. so he wants
the island to be perfect. anything not perfect is to be removed. uwu but thank you for the advice.

I loved the “withered away” look it had - like nature is taking over- and I used the jagged edges to hide the misalignment from stair to stair! Also carved out the sidewalk unevenly which helped to invoke that “otherworldly” feel!

hi late but @novel pebble it looks like you dont have a defined space for your cafe, i think it's easier to plot how much space you'll need, fence it, then start decorating. having trees and flowers surround the area helped me w/my cafe. hope this helps

@fathom sonnet yeah that's sorta why I changed my mind about 'needing town hall to be in the center', i feel like it's a lot easier to design the map when it isn't but you can still make that work, i saw some cool ideas of people making interesting outside-areas that lead to the town hall so it can look more natural and you can take the museum and make it a vocal point in the upper part of the map as well, there are ways around it 😄

you can see the desigtn choice by the airport, they didn't try to make a DIRECT path right to town hall at a weird angle, they made other stuff appear before/around it and blended in the town hall with the paths

i'll say one more thing - the mini map only tells the tale of one version of the map, there are so many maps i've seen on twitter that look amazing in game but the mini map looks a little messy or even, dare i say, bland, but in game they look amazing and not even close to bland so i'd focus more so on the real game map and design choices there vs making the mini map look extra pretty

hey friends, I'm only on like day 4 on my island, but I'm feeling really inspired by the photos on here! Annoyingly I found about this all too late to plan ahead for my own island, but with only 3 vills, museum and Nook's up I thought I could make a headstart now for my remaining vills and Ables... I have a town plan I like, but I'm not sure if I have space with my pier and river on the South border of my island... so a vill house is 4x4 right, but how much clear space do they need around the plot? from memory it's 8 wide but I'm really hoping I can get away with 6 (so 1 space on either side of the house itself). Does anyone know if this is possible?
