I'd suggest making sure you have enough space for the garden you want, like if you're doing every flower or just a few. The next step would be to organize them. Once you have the area squared off, it's easier to move them and organize them in a way that you're happy with. I also tend to plant a few flowers and then just let them spread to fill out the area and clean it up as I go

I would do the bistro in light wood or white so it pops against the wood path and then match it with whatever chairs you have (I like the elegant set or wedding ones for extra interest). You could also dye the fence or use a different style but not sure if that'll be necessary after changing the tables and chairs. There's also more pattern options for the umbrellas if you haven't found the secret feature for that yet

You could do leave piles, scattered papers, boxes/other furniture or you could create your own custom design to combine the two designs you are working with. I've done that before by taking a picture of the design I pulled up in the design app (to get the pixel version) and used that as a basis to create extra pieces (short version of how I did it). Depends on how much effort you'd like to put in

Hello! I decided to make this rock garden that has the rocks on 3x3 cliffs. The walkway in the middle is accessed by two inclines. I'm trying to think of some cool items to put in-between the rocks (where the pergola is right now, and where the round topiary and street lamps are) and was hoping some people may have ideas. I currently jump over the 1 wide gap to access the rocks but I can also build up the cliff so that its a wider walkway.

Looks like you are going for a natural entrance. I would suggest the mush items hands down. Log items, stones, the vines you can get from going to Kappa island or the HHP DLC and some leaf piles.

So I would consider how you would like to guide someone in your island. Like would you like to guide them to RS? If so terraforming would be good. Would you like to obstruct RS? Then castle items/trees could also be considered. I personally like to start by paying attention to how I run around my island. I like the flow to be good so like when I bug hunt/fish hunt I'm not having to take a non direct route. Looking for inspo and paying attention to what you like is also a great start too. Hopefully this helps a little.

The rivers consist of water and a delta which connects to the ocean. You can never remove the delta. When you dig a water feature close enough to the delta it will reconnect. So you don’t have to worry about permanently locking yourself out of rivers; the part that connects to the ocean will never disappear.

Makes sense yeah, try to make the cliff with the waterfalls more naturally shaped and maybe dig out a pond at the top that runs down, possibly into a river but I'm not really sure how that would look. But most importantly try and use a lot of trees, bushes, weeds, flowers, log stakes etc when going for a natural looks. Overdecorating seems to be the key, at least for my island!

What kinda theme are you going for? In those empty areas you could maybe do like a hidden forest, fruit orchard, resting area, or like an outdoor picnic or park area if you don’t have stuff like that already! For the beaches, you could possibly put like paths all around and place like little items to see around. I kinda did that on mine so they’re fun to explore and walk through. They use basic panels with custom designs, I've also seen some use the basic curtains as an item to do something similar

I recommend you use the basic panels since they're flatter and don't have the same texture as the curtains do

Yah this is exactly what I did to cover how close and off center the residential service is but the only drawback is if u talk to the npcs and do any action near the plaza, it just shows u a birds eye view of ur head cus the terrain is blocking it

Just made three new little builds on my island today. Just filling up some empty space. Made a playground area (had to make the hopscotch design myself because my switch online is not renewed and I am very proud of how it turned out). I made a mini farmers market type area right next to where I have all my crops and then I made an outdoor arcade which is probably my favorite of the three

islands are just a lot of space yknow and the way I can change most things about it is just super open but that also makes it difficult to figure out what to do with it all

Hmm, well I would maybe say if you’re interested in using custom designs then try and narrow your search down by picking a theme of some sort. Like me for example, I wanted my island to be blue/pink so I went for paths/designs that were those colors. You can do something different, like if you like stars, hearts, etc then that should hopefully help narrow your choices down.

Decorating wise, I would honestly say maybe just have an idea in mind (doesn’t have to be a complete thought, maybe just an image in mind) and just focus on one area at a time and work there. I think it helps you visualize too once you start placing stuff down and you can get ideas as you go along. Terraforming and decorating can definitely be overwhelming, but just try and do small areas at a time and go from there! I think picking a theme of some sort would help out too, but you don’t have to be strict and stick with that throughout your whole island ofc. It would help you with what items to use with decorating and stuff, like if you want more of a cottagecore theme or a spooky theme, etc. I hope that helps and I hope you get some inspo and have fun

Try looking on pinterest! There's a lot. Some twitter, reddit pages, etc. also share a lot of cute custom designs. You can search for specific keywords in #path-codes and #misc-pattern-codes as well.

You can also try exploring other people's dream addresses for inspiration on what to add to your island!

Hi, I'm making a tropical island but I'm having half of the island be "seasonal areas", mostly for gameplay purposes but I'm decorating a bit in those as well. So far I have a yoga area in the summer section, a picnic area in spring and am planning a plaza/snowman building area for the winter sector. But I don't have any ideas for the autumn area.
