Varying width, curvy for refrence look up pics of maps with rivers
my tudor garden and farm☺️
Yeah, I flattened my entire island. Although it cleans up the space quick and easily, I wouldn't recommend it for everyone. Sometimes looking at all that open space just de-motivates you.
EXACTLY. It's demotivating enough knowing that I want to change things up, as is
I did that, never do it
Its awful
Still re-terraforming to look natural
Mainly the upper left
but the problem is, if I redo section by section I'm worried I'll struggle to connect them all together into what feels like an island. Don't want to just end up with separate, disjointed areas
What theme are going for?
I want to do like... 1 area being a haunted forest, another being a carnival next to a wheat field (think American Horeror Story Season 4 lol), maybe 1 mermaid/pastel area but with a spooky feel just because... got a few other ideas just don't know how to pull it all out of my head lol
NMT has some carnival island that are customizable by cyrus
Oh yeah I got loads of them, bu t I did NOT know they're customizable by Cy, thx!
I’m going for like a victorian countryside and howls moving castle theme
oooo
thank you! Did not know that either haha
Actually, question for everyone: How do you generally find is the best way to deal with villager houses? Should they be spread out or is it better to just make them a little neighbourhood somewhere so I have more island space
I’ll show you my villager areas
always down to see inspo
oh ok, so like little clusters of 4! thats cute
Gonna have to get some decorations for the places though
yeah, i've seen people customize each villager's garden to their personality and I love that idea
My sister did that with hers its so nice
I placed mine in a long, tiered neighborhood style because I like them all being easily accessible in the same general area. But it's really a matter of preference and theme.
Yep of course, I think that this could also work with a haunted/spooky island theme, I can maybe just add a slight bend to the street or something just to give it a little twist.
OK what about flowers? I have WAY too many and am noticing they are cross breeding way too much lol. Should I just get rid of the regular ones and keep any unique colors somewhere while I terraform?
Can someone help me design my island lmao
Yes, absolutely. I would choose a few colors that you like for your theme, and just use any flowers that work within that color scheme. Another trick I like to use is determining whether a flower looks natural or planned. What I mean is, if you're going for more of a rundown area, I would use cosmos, as I find them to almost be weed-like in nature. Rather something like tulips would suggest a more urban planned area.
Thank you, super insightful. I'm just horrible and feel so bad at the idea of tossing out flowers 😭
Make the blow less painful, and sell them via dropbox outside the Nook's Cranny. 😏
I just want them to go to a good home lmaooo
Well, another thing you could do, is save most of the flowers and just replant them on the beach. Then, if you ever need a specific flower, you can just retreive a fully grown one from the beach.
that is a great idea
That's what I did, and I've found the strategy indespensible for a completionist like me.
What flowers do you have? For your theme keep black and purple roses. If you have any pink mums, pink, white and blue hyacinths, white lillies and white cosmos i’ll take them all
I'm really just trying to cross breed still, think I want to be able to make use of most colors for something. Just need to figure it all out
I’d say mainly black and purple flowers
My aesthetic IRL is pretty much only black and purple haha so I want to try to mix it up a bit]
And definitely watch youtube island tours and pintrest has a ton of good ideas
I don’t really have any spooky island tips because I’m doing a howls moving castle/victorian countryside/studio ghibli island
Also watch some movies they inspire me
I can visualize in my head how I want things to look. I just can't put it in front of me for some reason
Like this place from Howls moving castle really inspired me to do a flowery pretty island
Also I still don't quite understand how custom patterns work. ike I'd love some custom terrains but it says my custom slots are full even though I only have like 3...
Me too so i like watching videos of people decorating their islands to see how they do it
You can always replace custom designs i think you can expand how many slots you have idk i just got back into playing
I'm guessing all my bridges/inclines that I currently have out will go to waste, too?
they can't me moved iirc
Yeah if you don’t like where they are you can’t move them
For bells download nookazon, you can sell in game items for bells there
It can take a while to get inclines/bridges all paid for
I have money haha
it's just annoying, the process of moving everything, terraforming and then realizing I made something too big/too small/wrong shape, aaargh
thanksss
This helps you can upload a picture of your island and edit it! I just drew mine out though
I made a new fruit because I needed one to that matched my color scheme. So dream berries were born
Anyone know of any good DAs for no terraforming islands?
I did that too 😭
For me, my eyes get tired of bright colors if I look at them too long. This island took me about 6 months to finish. If I had used a ton of color I would have had to take many long breaks in between to give my eyes a break.
So no kidcore for you then 😉
So to you and other Forestcore peeps, can there really be too many trees?
My forests are thicc
No, too many trees is a lie that Isabelle tells us is real.
Mmhmm I am with my people
TREES
I am starting an island and made my villager area the top left…I am thinking of having my whole (well most) of my island second level or higher and don’t know where to put my house…thoughts? Ping me please
maybe near the villager area so or the top right corner?
if not any of those, possibly by the dock??
Put it in the bottom center of the villagers on the first level. Be one with the people
Does anyone know anything that could be good for a skatepark build? besides skateboards obviously.
Maybe the jungle gym item from the nook miles program and a lot of concrete custom design codes.
It's a small little plot but those items could work!
thats nice! Ill try it out
Does anyone what Incline I should use for a skateboard ramp?
The skatepark is for Katt's House
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much!
Working on my fairy core beach library
Is this design use dlc ?
if you mean the party lights probably, i’ve never seen them u tim just a bit ago
until*
could you pm mě how the area looks like? i’m debating on how to make mine
Idk what to put in this lil corner. Suggestions?
Personally, I like the clothes-corner-piece option.
Thank you
i flattened my island and here’s the map so far 👀👀
as you can tell i’m working from the bottom up
Woah, the river placement looks super cool!
ahh tyy! the double south’s a little difficult to work with but i definitely like how it’s starting
If you can you should put some paths around the place because islands tend to look better with that (my opinion)
i always add paths and plants last!
i’ll be using the path in several sections tho so it’s not gonna show up in some places anyway
Using the old e3 trailer for island inspo 🥰
trying to think of something to put between houses. i have lots of flowers, but i can't choose which ones to use. if it helps, the white hyacinths will be changed to different flowers depending on the season. i also want to use seasonal decor (particularly the pumpkin stuff in autumn, cherry blossom in spring) but idk what would work for winter
Can someone help me to make my island look nicer?
Thoughts on this shop area idk how I feel abt it (be brutally honest)
Absolutely adorable uwu
Any ideas for the some of the layout of my island the semi circle area is gonna be a lil tribute to one of my favorite games and i know for a fact i want the shop where i placed it but anything circled in red i still need to find spots for and i need to figure out how to add to the terraforming and pathways
Sorry its super messy
Working on my entrance 👻 IGNORE THE PATH lol taking me a while to find a “goth” path I like or darker bricks/stones
im having such a hard time chosing an island theme :_(
choosing
im leaning towards something like. the chronicles of narnia, childhood stories, red and brown feels
all this effort only to realize it's gonna be hidden behind the museum anyway
Does anyone has any suggestions I can use for this? (I'm making a miniature village thing kind of like the Picori in Tloz Minish Cap)
i just finished doing this lil rainbow path around my connecting houses but now i have no idea what to put around this area to make it look less empty 💔💔
What should i do for chrissy and francines yard (kidcore island)
oh what design is that? For the river. I would love to use it
Their creator ID is 6646-4490-3607
It looks awesome! The only thing I would add is some streetlights and benches but other than that it looks great.
trees and the wooden fence customised to be different colours and white !! 🙂
Minecraft realm code qVKXQmdZk9A, welcome to join
Hey guys! Able to ask which looks nicer? The park bench or vending machine
personally I’d put the vending machine, but it’s a really hard choice
both are nice
So stuck in between >_<
huge wip but here’s the entrance so far! obviously the plants still need to grow in and i’ve gotta add some furniture but i think it’s pretty cute
Super cute!!! I love it
LOVE the newspaper stand! Great job! Do you have the code for the front panels?
I'm working on my entrance and it looks plain what should I add?
not really sure how to fill in/decorate this awkward area between my houses and my cafe/farmers market…any ideas would be great!
tyy
tysm!! its MA-5036-6375-5696
ROYGBV color flower pattern with R and V separated by a shrub? Or maybe different colored nova lights and some stunted trees?
ooh cute i like how it diverges right and left normally i see straight forward entrances!
tyy
i wanted the entrance to feel cozy and after messing with the rivers and stuff i decided left and right was the way to go
you've inspired me to try something unconventional for my own enterance!
Thank you!
My plan is to go from this
to this
it might very
im trying to resemble off of Fort Duquesne in Pittsburgh
And how on earth are you going to remove the beaches, river mouths, and even your own house
I'm gonna see what I can do
Entrance ideas?
Anyone have a jungle themed island? Looking for layout ideas
(Repost, ig?) I'm working on a miniature village thingy on my island. Kind of like the picori from the minish cap. Does anyone have any furniture ideas I could potentially use?
Brand new entrance that I'm very proud of
is something like this even possible (im not the best)
Scrolling up through old posts, sorry—how do you get to redecorate your islanders' homes? Do you have to get to a certain point in the Happy Home DLC?
has anyone ever done two separate neighborhoods on their island ?
Yeah I have--its basically east and west main street
do they look the same ? Like paths and stuff ? I I wanted to do like a suburb with 5 home and a city with 5 homes haha
Yeah they're similar.
DA-6870-7584-5093 if you are interested in seeing what it looked like a couple days ago
yeah youhave to finish the story portion (30 houses iirc)
Ahhh ok
it definitley is! just would take a bit to do but definitley is possible!
does anyone have any recommendations for my map? bottom left quadrant is like 75% done so i dont wanna make too many changes to that, but i just started working on the bottom right today and i'm stumped (going for a circular town square vibe)
Oh wow, you're island's map is stunning! I would recommend changing the shape of the circle a little. Maybe making it an oval instead will give you more space to decorate? I know circles with buildings are incredibly hard to decorate.
thanks so much! i actually ended up turning the circle into a star, and i think it matches well with the rest of the map and gives me more room :)
Please update when you’re done
Anyone have any pink/purple/blue space themed islands? I really need inspiration lol
can someone give city island inspo?
How about, retro or 80s themed?
My gaming area. I also replaced the pink capsule machine with a purple pinball machines
You could make a cloud or Star or heart lake next to the moon in the far middle right part of the map maybe? To add more to the look of the map
Moonlit backyard movie night 🌌
chill
hi! not sure if this is the right place to ask, but would anyone be willing to do up a digital island map design for me? i’ve uploaded the DA, and would love to post it up but i would love for someone to help design the map digitally! will pay in bells/NMTs/anything else you might be looking for 🙂
I think I'll have to go with the vending machine, it helps to cover some cliff space so it makes the area around the store feel a bit more dense and detailed, as opposed to plain cliff showing behind the bench. It would be helpful to possibly move the vending machine closer to the store though, then add the barrel, clock and mailbox to the side of that
I can always rely on you to make something gorgeous, I adore the starry theme.
Thanks so much! If you ever want to visit let me know
Any ideas on what to do with this space?
Spa
Any thoughts on my able sister's build?
This is so cute!!
I love it !
Tyy!
Could you guys rate some of my builds?
Sure
Picasso i like it
I really like it!
I do feel like it lacks charm tho
that looks so good! 😟🤩
This is the reason why I decided to dedicate half of my forest-core island to suburban-core. This is a vibe and I love it!
do you have a DA?
something is missing, any tips on what i could it add to make it more complete?
I made my home the island community center, right next to the plaza
I live on the top floor, and the basement is an inn
I'm still working on the three rooms on the ground floor:
Left : game room
Middle : Community kitchen
Right : Public restrooms and shower
a lantern and some cushions / seats?
omg yes
Any ideas as to how I should do this layout?
Castle in the middle lol
truee
Then I'd split the map into quadrant fiefdoms, water, fire, earth, air
It'd be like Raya and the last dragon. Heart is in the middle lmao
not really my style but a good idea
I feel like this is gonna suck
i have no clue how to set up housing
any idea as to how to set it up
i feel like its not gonna look good
im gonna space them out more
thinking of doing this
Keep in mind the museum will not align with a 2 wide staircase. the entrance is 3 wide. Just wanted to point that out in case you were figuring that
yeah i was gonna figure somewhere else out to put it
You could also consider a more zig zag feel on the staircase so the low is less direct so you don't need to feel like you want to align it or something. Just a thought
Like one bottom left and next to the right, the back to the left. Or center, left, then right.
I've also see someone post a design here that was like a half circle of neighbors which could be kinda cool if you want house to like circle the museum instead or something.
So I have an island in the middle of my island so I was thinking that this would be the entrance to it and after the third layer of houses it would open up to the rest of the island
hello! i am doing a fall/cottage core themed island! i was wondering if anyone has tips for me! thanks!
Love this!!
Any ideas of what I should do here
Finally did something to the blank spot behind my Resident Services! I made a little picnic area! :)
this is days later sorry 🙏 but once you complete 30 vaca homes you unlock it on your island i believe
Ty :)
I've been trying to make a tropical theme on my island any idea on how I can begin
Anyone have towncore inspo?
hm I'd start with a lot of coconuts, unlock terraforming to get the sand path. tropical themed islands tend to have lots of coconut trees
soooo cute😍😍😍😍
Hi would any be able to help me I don’t like my island at all I don’t like teh cliffs or designs or anything dm me
How cute is nana? ♥️
I was unaware there was any cute monkey villagers until now XD
She’s adorable 💕
Hi everyone! It’s been so long since I’ve been on discord and animal crossing, I don’t know if this is allowed please remove if not but I was wondering if anyone would be willing to come to my island and give me some inspiration for my last bit of empty land I have hit a road block! Any help and suggestions would be much appreciated
I am willing to pay bells and nmt's for somebody to design and decorate my island
i think i played around with the island designer website too much
Woomy
I need island layout ideas, please help! ♡
A golden turtle
Hes sleepy
Any ideas as to where i can set up a neighborhood? Im willing and planning to change the whole layout <3 looking to do like an old-but-new cozy college town sort of vibe :)
a snapping turtle
any ideas how i can set up a neighbourhood? (getting imagine 1 sec)
like layout
aa
i basically just put houses wherever when i had to put them down
they just stay where they are since the beginning
eepy
maybe put them in 2 separate areas like 5 in a circle and like a tree in the middle and then have 6 (one of them could be ur house) in 3 rows in an area?
hi is anyone willing to give me placement ideas. i would like to have a flower farm, orchard, crop farm. the red spot is a lumber yard. any ideas where i should place
any ideas for.. a campsite? cottagy-soft kinda style?
my little park area
..
What do you already have on your island?
the shop area and the upper level behind it...
DND inspired island entrance I’m working on
Place to make character sheets and check map for the immersive DND session experience on Amber Isle
Everything is still a work in progress but I’m liking the vibe so far
I think this is the right channel to ask, would anyone like to help me make a suburban city themed island? Im having trouble
love ittt
Ooo that's nice
my simple & natural entrance
My island's DA has a lot of suburban themed areas. You can check it out for inspiration if you want. DA-2076-8295-9217
wow, so cute
thanks!
Right now I have a small airplane station, smoothie resteraunt , mini forest, pumpkin patch, flower patch, veggie patch, orchard , small music station
A thrift store maybe?
Have you ever considered making a fresh fruit market?
Can I get some terra forming advice, most of my land is flat and I try to terra form but it looks sooo bad
Are you going for a specific theme?
Like, are you tending towards a manicured look, or a more natural aesthetic
My them is foresty Zen
Wanna share some pics?
I built a farm for ketchup!
Yeah just a sec, I just did some messing around i actually love how it looks
Sorry about the screen thingy going on with the image
If you want I can open my gates and you can get a much better view
Looks great!
Thank you
I can't at the moment but would love to visit another time!
Alrighty!
Co cute!
Random but i made like a 4x4 patch of land, but I have no clue how i'd be able to put something like a tree exactly in the centre, for example
Thanks!
My museum/castle build! Would love some feedback, esp on which color the walls should be, ivory or grey?
Photo dump (some areas on my island🌱)
Looks nice. I think grey would match better though. You could try adding a border to the stone path too that matches the ivory walls to try to tie in the color as well
Stopp I need motivation to fix my island all of these are giving me ideas but at the same time How did you guys do all this
6pm love: Golden Hour
Really proud of my Island, 1700 Hours+ in and still going strong, To anyone: feel free to visit the Dream Adress
What looks better, dirt underneath flowers or just grass?
I personally like the dirt better, it gives more color/variety to the pathway and plus it can make your map look nicer with all the different terraforming spots that you’ll have
I’m going for a tropical city carnival theme so what do we think of these places in my island and does the area with the pool pattern on the ground fit or should i take it out?
Plus should I have large fields of flowers or should I have those go to?
Not sure what to do with the area in red… any suggestions?
Probably a garden? Don't know that's all I have in mind lol
Whats the theme of your island?
Not sure that I really have a designated theme, but everything north of the river is a haunted forest vibe!
I did move the river down a bit to shorten that big empty space
What can i do with this empty space
@woven drift
you could make a playground?? or like a flower shop?? idk
Does anyone have a designs for a boneyard? I have so many fossils and I'm trying use em.
WAIT WHY IS THE BENCH SO CUTE WITH THE PATH N STUFF
Idkkk
So sad I reset my island
Trying to get back to that point
Maybe build a shop like a flower shop or a grocery store
Or a cafe might be a cute idea
Anyone else wish Brewster’s was it’s own standalone building? Lol.
I think most people have come to accept it by now, it's been a while
Shopping carts with a bench?
@keen mortar
Hiiiii!
^^ look at the thing replied too
Oh about paradise?
Ye that was basically near the start of my old isle
Can I get inspiration?
Oh nvm, just saw the photo!! ITS SO CUTE!!!
Cottagecore/forestcore
Mine is plant core!!
Fairs! Mine is going back to the same thing of forestcore/cottagecore
Hey everyone im having another gift giveaway today is gifts all around everyone is welcome to come grab some my dodo codo KRYT4
Fist time flattening and terraforming an island. Only on day 3 and I’m already overwhelmed
#nocliffchallenge
😂
@signal lagoon
felt i flattend mine a week ago and haven't done anything with it
Such a slow and tiring process now that it’s done I have no idea where to start
exactly it stresses me out trying to design one area and i just can't get inspired
I like this one! I saved it
110 hours in and most of my island is trees and a bad looking main area, so decided to start making it look nice. wanted to make all the area outlined in green 2nd level area with nothing but farms, the lines in blue to be what my rivers would look like, and the rest would be for making it look nice, thoughts?
tweaked my entrance a little
HI
PURPLE GUY
Can someone help me :,) I’m trying to design my island (i’m new to the game idk what i’m doing but i have terraforming etc) I’m going for a cottage core / pink theme but i’m not sure how to lay it out-
What I want vs where I'm at😔
Wow that's a lot of terraforming
Ok, so im redoing the entire theme of my island to D&D themed bc its legit my fav thing, if anyone has like reference or ideas for it that would be amazing, anything helps (btw im transitioning from Zen foresty to D&D so I have all kinds of plant based furnishings)
Thats actually really impressive
Nuh uh
Yes it is! I couldn't do that, id go mad
Who said I wasn't losing it
I made too many mistakes because some parts are way too big and now others won't fit👁️👁️
And I haven't even started decorating
And my dumbass chose to use the hardest flower to breed as the main one
Which one?
Green mums😭😭
They're soooo pretty tho
I usually just water them and time skip, I went from 1 to 3 then I gave up bc I have 0 patience for this game 😎👍
Same
Lol
Noooo I've been stuck on breeding green mums for like a month now even with excessive TTing
I think my friend still has some that I have them from my old island, so I could borrow those and technically they'd still be my hybrids but I'm being stubborn
I really need some help I flattend my island bc i want to redo it i'm going for like a mix of cottagecore and farmcore and need some serious help flattening my island has stressed me out and now i can't design
if u have any of this plant furnishings left can i have some
how the heck did you design it so good.. i tried designing my island and it uhh didnt go well to say the least
Sure, id be happy to give away what I dont plan on using, but its gonna be just a lil bit bc I need to get things In order
yes that's cool with me just shoot me a message when u can
Alr, imma open a dm with you just for easier contact
I'd suggest lots of miniature cliffs and small water falls
Why do you rivers go straight out, you can’t change the position of your river mouths btw
How did you do that?
Just think of what you want your Island going to be then use the planer and tweak around and see what you'd like and then repeat that until you get the whole island done then you try to apply it to yours and then you suffer 🤭
Google how to make building structures or mansion in ACNH I watched a YouTube tutorial! I’ve also made other houses
It’s mostly just experimenting with things like wedding pipe organs, decorated pillars, simple panels, etc
Freaking insane what you can hack together in this game
My attempt at a river. Really struggling with teraforming, rivers, and and pretty much everything else
depends on what your theme/aesthetic is, but try making them more natural and wavy! it’ll flow much easier 😊
I struggled to connect my rivers and found it easier to to connect them to waterfalls instead
here’s my current map, definitely a work in progress lmao. any suggestions for how to connect my rivers?
Anyone using a planning app to design their island? If so, what is it called?
planner?
Yup
does anyone want to design my island for me just trying to figure out the layout makes me want to stop playing
some street thing right by my entrance
im sorry, is that a concert on your island?
This is my current map :).
WOW! I love the design!
Tysm!
I'll be happy to
Dm me when you're free
💀💀
My island
I have a question if I ask a villager to come to my island but I don’t have a plot open and a plot opens later will the villager come
No
new to the game trying to find a way to make a good entry. any ideas?
add some trees, flowers, and bushes !
You can do waterfall or build up the ground and put decorations
Some highlights from my island!
Some ideas for this entry?
Do you have a theme?
I want to do like a little forest in the entry but idk
Do that! I put a little pond and surrounded it with trees and some fun foresty items
I just put a ruined arch and flowers at the entrance
Made what hopefully looks like a pirate ship
Makin a train to sit inside
Does anyone have item recommendations for Dark Academia
I'm trying to decide how to terraform and design my island, would really appreciate any input here. I feel like there's a lot of wasted space especially in certain areas like above the museum and I don't know if I'm best flattening it or keeping it the way it is and building around it.
Would also appreciate any tips for where to move Able Sisters and any other space filler tips. My island is spooky/witchy themed with a bit of cottagecore.
Also really not sure where to put the creepy carnival near a wheat field-thing... There doesn't seem to be enough room and it's strange putting it in that middle area below my house.
ahhhh my head hurts lol
omg.. watxhing him try to ACTUALLY learn that dance was the funniest video ever lol
Please use #villager-trade or #701251557458444395 to trade for villagers, this isn’t a trading channel! Thank you
Idk
Ok
Send me message in private
anyone have pastel city flea market inspo? sorry so specific 😭
farm i made (no fences and stuff im terrible at designing)
Old grave
whats a good filler for a horror island ??
Sharing my museum view! 😊
Any tips on how to make my Able Sisters look nicer? I’m going for a coastal/nautical theme but I just don’t think this fits it
Does anyone know a good item to fill this 1 wide gap to my fake building I'm making? It's the gap between the two medieval sides, I haven't found any good items that can cleanly fill it
I recreated this and I love it
Somebody a gyriods spot ?
tokonoma maybe??? i think it could fill it well
Does anyone have purple flowers I can have
you can use #flower-plants-trade to trade for flowers! this channel is for posting pictures of your island designs
When making these, do you plan them out or go with the flow? I love these designs and wanna have a go 😋
Any design/area i should start?
Yes. It wasn’t hard.. just simple panel and display cases.
Tysm.. that means a lot
Wow amazing!!
POV: Me thinking my island looks good:
You:
Ooo, thank you! I haven't tried that yet, I'll give it a go!
hi 😄
My almost done habited ruin island 😅
OOO i see! Thanks
Hello can someone please help me design my island my theme is elegant core and I don’t know we’re to start and will pay for you to use your items if you would like to
Yvw
anyone know the name of this rug 🥲? or is it a design?
its a custom design
Not much tbh, that item is a goddamn 4x4
WOW
Oh em gosh have you submitted the first photo to #1136667214586589315
Hey, I’m trying to figure out what’s best and what looks the best. This is my island entrance so far, I worked really hard! However I don’t want people using anything to get on top of the cliffs. Should I put my fencing in front of the cliffs? Or add something on top of the cliffs that isn’t fencing? Or just leave it be for right now?
Hmmmmm.... I feel like if you put fencing in front of the cliff then it might look cluttered??? If it were me I would put something on top of the cliffs!
How can you get cars in the game?
Do you have a suggestion on what should be up there?
Shrubs, log stakes... Of course it depends on what your island theme is.
Ngl… i have a different theme for every section 😞
Then just use whatever suits your fancy. I would recommend using items with hitboxing (not flowers because you can run through them) along the edge because you mentioned you don't want people traversing that area.
Thank you love! I’m also going to look at other peoples cliffs, hopefully something makes me smile 😭😞
my island

What do y’all think of my Nooks Cranny?
has anyone seen any really good photos of like a magical/fairytale themed island with a dwarf gem mine? Im trying to gather ideas so if you have seen anything feel free to DM me! Tysm! ❤️
How did you Make those paths!
what's the flooring
looks fantastic! love the nautical color themes
It’s a custom design I found on Pinterest, do you want me to send you the code?
looking for ideas for my haunted fantasy island with paranormal elements
if you don't mind!
just showing off my museum area !
Everyone is so talented
How are you guys this talented?! Show me your ways lol
I don’t know about anyone else but copying what others do helped me a lot 😂
Graphic design does not help
it looks so pretty!
but im sorry that u lost the saved data
some pictures that i used to help me design my entrance! (1st photo)
wow that's stunning
Pretty
can anyone help me find the code for this road design? (not mine)
It's not the same but it's similar
Does anyone know what i could do with the area marked in red. The little area above is my farm with trees on both sides of it. And if you have anything else to comment on about my island I’d be happy to hear your thoughts.
Absolutely love the build but I promise you the white star fragments will look better
And I'm completely willing to give you mine
Maybe a flower garden or a little park as a welcome to my island area
Thanks, if I go with that idea I will send a picture of the area!👍🏼 Great idea
My little french seaside town ☀️🏺
HOW
Once my island gets to 3 stars, I will be unstoppable
I made a cute little ice cream diner
OMG I LOVE IT 😭 IT'S SO PRETTY
Y'all are so talented this is so pretty omg 😭
I love it
I wanted to make "roads" with 2 of the paths the game gives you but they don't mix together, they leave a little space of grass in between, is there a way to take away the grass space between the paths or do i just use custom paths?
AFAIK custom paths are the only way. the paths the game gives you are always going to have spacing
Make a fruit stall
Okeyy thank you
Thanks for the idea but I have already Mads one at my shopping district
Made*
Y’all wanna start a thread of ur entrances? I need inspo
absolutely gonna tear down my island and change the theme to cottage core is this a good idea
Im also working on mine, my island is so square
Terraforming for the fish is done, gonna put some sort of restaurant on it either a tiki bar or a fancy restaurant
whats the code for these stairs?
tysm!
Ah love the beautiful things
Any suggestions on non-distracting places to put a bridge here
It looks like the only place you can put it is on the front of the head
Don't use a bridge, use 1 tile stepping stones as bubbles
Wait that’s so smart thanks so much, by that you just mean one tile of land in the water to jump to right
not a thread but what kind of inspo are you looking for? ive done several different entrances
Plz send DA
From late June, wow. I have added a lot more to this scene tbh
Wow
im thinking of something like this, does anyone have any suggestions?
mostly because I don't want to get rid of the huge hill at the back of my island
sorry i fixed it, had some alignment issues
no hate but if u have only one residential spot on your island you’re gonna have a lot of empty space, i had this problem
Would anyone mind visiting my DA and giving me feedback? I’m (slowly😬) trying to a typical small town vibe to my island but I’m finding myself a bit stuck on what to do with the small and big empty spaces! Thank you so much in advance DA-7068-5530-7345
can anyone give me museum entrance ideas
gonna be trying to make this for my island cuz yk i love lychees, do u guys think this is possible or nah
yes
does anyone know like east asian city ideas kind of like these?
I love itttt !! What’s the code to that deck design? 😭
finally got 5 stars! some pics of my winter city island
WOW
i havent played in a long time, but i finally done some progress on this ❤️

It's pictures like these that give me a deplorable case of wanderlust...
that looks so cool!!!
Nice
Mine is a cyberpunk/ steampunk themed
I love the dark moon. Fits the vibe.
Ooh, I love the use of the stadium lights. I haven't ever seen someone use those before in a build.
does anyone have traditional japanese island ideas??
Here are some areas from my island
Woahhh
Anyone have villagers house ideas like how they look on the map. Together or scattered? I want them together in one stop, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Without the houses being too crowded...
thank you!! I like your island a lot, its really well done.
Mines cyberpunk does that help you
I had mine together but now it's dcattered
Scattered
can i see??
I was thinking of putting a park here, but it turns out its way too narrow. Idk what to put here instead, its a little over 1 map square long
Idk what theme you're going for. so either you could probably put a statue there and then decorate the heck out of it to make it look fancy or you can make like a flea market
its citycore
Either one could probably work
Your winter island must be bliss. I'd love to visit one day, I think that of all the islands I've seen, I haven't seen enough winter ones.
Very beautiful. I'm used to very maximally-cluttered islands, and the space here feels natural and airy
Villefleur, a little French seaside town ⛱🌊
I will never understad how people are this talented my island looks so inferrior to these pieces of art
Haha thank you but please don't view it as a competitive struggle for "better" islands. I was walking around on it yesterday cursing myself for not doing a more simple design. All the clutter is noisy, expensive, and an absolute pain to navigate when you just want to do normal things like hunt wisps 😂
well it looks wicked
your island is amazingg, and i understand the struggle because my island is also full and i had to go to mystery islands to hunt bugs and fishes in peace 😂
just want to share some of my favorite spaces on my island as of rn, its not finished but i got my first lily of the valley today 💛
Aww tysm! I was planning on setting my DA soon.
magical forest✨
I need help. I restarted around a month ago to work on my island of Amity, but I'm struggling to find ideas for areas. Anybody have tips for horror themed islands?
Hi every! I made this simple area behind resident services 😊 hope you guys like it. 😊
finished my museum area
Could anyone give me a tip on how to make this less empty thabks 😄
I'm probably really late but you can just put them on the beach
Okaaaay but with all these island design l'm seeing, I don't think I'm playing the same game anymore 😂😂
A dream address would be fun. If you'd ever like a visitor before you get around to uploading one though, I'm one to bring gifts!
Anyone got a good junkyard area I could see
For one, I would say the openness is a nice thing - but if you want to clutter it up, I would start with bamboo plants and some custom design pebbles around the sides of the path, so as to sell the fuedal japan look from the arch
If that's not your thing you could always plant some trees around, then cut them down for stumps (which can be sat on) and mix them up with some camping equipment like a fire, an outdoor cooking set, etc. If you make a new profile on your switch you can even pitch a player tent there!
I’d always recommend adding some height variation, trees and tall objects fill out areas very well
I’m so bad at building I tend to get wrapped into copying my whole islands from pintrest then not liking it because It’s not original 😭 does anyone have any tips of advice for getting better at terraforming and building as a whole?
started making this little park thing for an entrance to my island, but i’ve got no clue how to decorate it since i’m more used to interiors. any advice?
bruhtopia 😭
Really good entrance I got intrigued by the back of the town square landscaping and waterfalls look good
Found pictures of my old island
I'm finally getting out of my own head and starting to slowly work on the gambling city of my dreams. It's a small start but I'm glad to make the journey
I'm loving it already! You can feel free to DM me if you don't have the stamina because talking about designs is a great way to avoid burnout
Oh absolutely! I think I burnt myself out when I flattened the island initially and chose to cover the entire map in sand. So I've really been avoiding it. But so far I'm making nice enough progress on the main city finding the codes I need!
Can I come visit for inspo I’m in love
I'm not on right now and literally the two pictures I shared are the only spots done! But as soon as I get a little more done I'll invite some people over
How tf do I get my island to look like this
this is ART
I love this! I want to to something similar with mine but just started my island and still don’t know if I like the placement of my RS
to be honest i only did it this way as a workaround to my resident services being so close to my airport
an area that leads to my house, i keep changing it every few weeks hmm
Any suggestions for this? It feels a little empty
it’s not much but i made a beach hangout spot!!!
add some flowers, glowing moss and maybe a waterfall behind it or on the sides
Nowhere to really put anything
I used that shell bed at my house to make a very romantic video filming environment
add some layers with waterfalls in the back or sides if there’s space, or maybe make some little islands in the water with glowing moss or flowers
okay so I’ve flattened my entire island and I drew up an island layout I love and I’m going for a cottage core-ish theme, but now I just want tips on where to start… like for instance, I plan on working in small areas so I don’t get burnt out as quick (hopefully). Im also not good at builds and etc bc I’m new, but I’m going to try. ANYWAYS, looking for advice on what’s easier, should I lay down the paths and then move the buildings where I want.. or move the buildings first and then layout the paths around them…? idek if that makes sense, someone pls help
as someone who has never done this and is not qualified to give an answer, I would first do the building definetly!!
ty! :) I’m going to try my best but already feeling overwhelmed
since restarting im going for cottage core/forest core/ idek just aesthetically pleasing to me so if anyone can reply with pics of their islands or dream addresses so I can start getting more inspired I’d really appreciate it :) looking at Pinterest makes me want to cry
I LOVEEEE COTTAGECORE
hehe me too :’) but I’m still new to the game so I have like nothing so it’s going to be a longgggggg journey
if you want to friend me on animal crossing maybe i could help by giviing you some stuff??
i dont have alot
but i could help you get things
in all honesty i have given up on making my island aesthetic ITS SO HARD
it’s extremely hard :’) but dm me your friend code and I’ll add you once I’m back home!
Made this small cafe spot
I would recommend the buildings first, you can use time traveling to speed things up !
Just started working on the front of my town hall, any suggestions?
Do what your brain and heart tells you. Or else you will be building someone else’s dream island
Impressive
i need help ! i want to do an part of my island like that :
but i need item and other thing... can someone help me pls ? dm me if you wanna help
The start of Ōmikami
Felicity's riverside abode
Legit, why does this look so good. XD
My campsite situation currently. My bear toast finally has a butter square since I got a zen cushion from someone :))
Thank you <33
Omg I love the bread idea that is so freakin cute
Found the design on pinterest, could not resist using it lol
And finally here is my shopping and community garden area
Aaand work in progress museum area
Does anyone have like Rs services ideas for a city kinda theme
This is where ppl eat doritos. Thoughts?
Hello. I wanna ask for some advice on what to do with my entrance. I'm not sure if I should add cliffs on one side or both or do something with waterscaping.
What’s your theme
The thing is I'm still conflicted on what I wanna do with my island 😅 but the forefront is a celestial theme
Oooo
So for now I just wanna do some land and waterscaping before I commit and putting decor around xD
You could make a little park area, build some waterfalls, add some butterfly models, some park benches, maybe a phone booth, some garden lanterns, hyacinth lamps, nova lamps, plant glowing moss
Yeah, adding some waterfalls can add great beauty to an island.
Do u think I should do it on both sides of the path or just one side? Cuz that's what's troubling me the most right now 🫠
I think you should do it on both sides
just so there's a balance
Well you can go with one side and see how it looks or go with both. Personally, I think two would be nice
Ok I'll try it out when I play again later. I suck at making the cliffs look natural but I'll see what I can do 😆
Thanks for the input @high bough @fallen gate
NP
of course
if you're wanting them to look more natural, you can always make a small pond area where the waterfalls come down to, so it looks like it's all connected and more natural feeling!
Oooh oki I'll try that out
okie!! I'd love to see when you finish building it
Awe
ill post an update when I do
Yay!! Can't wait to see!
I’m stuck on my idea nowww
Do you have any ideas for behind a resident services?
Or Around it
What’s your theme 👀
I’m gonna make a cyberpunk theme I think
Oooh that’s super cool!!
Hmm lemme think
You could always make a little marketplace behind the residence services. Make cliffs to add dimension or levels or you can create like underground club vibe with different colors of palm tree lamps, servers, diner neon sign (turned around so you only see the lights)
Yea that’s what I had in mind too for you or something like this for the entry way to the marketplace
Could you maybe find me a ref pic for the underground club vibe please
True, true tyyy
Of course!!
Is it bad if we copy others ideas or something onto our island
Or does it have to be original
I think it would be better you take inspo from it rather than copying it design for design but it does happen.
Mhm.
Yeah I’m gonna try my very best to take Inspiration
One that came to mind is like a sketchy alley and at the end of it is a green pipe that could lead to a bar or a secret hideout 😆
Ooo omg yes
Update
just one side for now. Idk if there's too much water
Ooh it’s looking super pretty so far!!
Holy shit is this yours
My cafe area on my island!!
I’m loving this what theme do you have
it's a european/castle rustic theme
Ooo
Anyone got any inspo for a cute/pastel/pink shopping district?
I have one but I'm not too stoked about it
who can help me for an part of my island pls... DM me and ill show you an image of an example (ill give a loot of bells too)
Progress on my island
My island is coming along nicely
but uhh if anyone has any suggestions for how I should use the space in the last pic please let me know
The riverbanks too, they're kind of a pain to decorate lol ;-;
can anyone send me carnival/plaza ideas? i have a bunch of items to make one but not sure how to design it
How do you get the castle look?
I used castle items and medieval walls
I don’t think I have unlocked those yet
They’ll show up eventually at nooks cranny or you can always trade for them with other players
Fixed up the bamboo trees.
Wow, it looks so good!
Thanks!
Which shrubs are those?
Pink hydrangea
I would appreciate any tips om What I can do with my island, theres lots of empty space and I can’t settle on a theme. Yes, I am pretty new to the game!
You can make the left spot a store themed since you have the nookling store and able's sister store to each other.
As for the campsite area, you can make it feel like a camp or something.
Thanks a lot! I will try it out, I don’t have that much material to build with right now. But this helps me with knowing what to do with my island!
anyone have ideas for a farm or orchard kinda thing around either nooks or ables?
anyone have any idea how to place these kind of designs. i have no clue I'm so confused haha.
the white bit looks like a border, e.g. place the one you're hovering on, then the one with the white border horizontal on the top, to the right of the one you placed, you should get a seamless border
or do you mean place designs in general? go into terraforming mode and place custom paths, you'll need to unlock it from nook stop I think
Does someone have some design Ideas for a Cottagecore island? Or villagers who could fit?
What are the dimensions of the yards please
The houses are 4 x 3, I leave 1 square on one side, 2 on the other, 1 space in the back and 2 in front. Fence is 9 x 8
I thought houses were 4 x 4
When you place them they take up 4 x 4 but one row is just the front
Ahhhh ok
Can I see your map to see how the villagers a placed
Tyyy
Np
This is a lot...
You should start by laying down paths and then making sure this is space for other things you want to put down like buildings and plants
When it comes to terraforming and building your inclines and bridges though it helps to put down paths so that you can line them up and ensure they connect.
Can you build a bridge between cliffs with a gap in the middle or did i hallucinate that
You can only build bridges over water. They don’t have sky bridges in the game
If you mean literally placing them, then you select the design and choose "display on ground". It should place the design right below your character.
If you repeatedly place them down without moving, after the first one right beneath you they will fill out a 3x3 square around you in this order: front, front left, front right, left, right, back left, back right, back. You can face a little to the right if you want to flip this.
An area I’m working on right now!!
For the orange part of my island!
(Aka my house área!!)
thank you
This is the center of my neighborhood, I had some inspiration and I'm pretty proud of it
Can I see your house layouts for the villagers pls
Like map view, or what it actually looks like?
Both if you can
I’m stuck on what to do with my villagers so
Well I did both
Thats really nice!
Am I allowed to post images from small detail designs I made on island planner online here and ask for suggestions
It’s literally so depressing but inspiring to see everyone’s unreal islands, but then I look at mine which I’m trying to update and change and I just want to cry lol
I'm just gonn aput them here lol I've always really wanted an Among Us on my island but I struggle with the proportions. Which one of these look the best and if anybody has any pointers that'd be awesome.
anyone can help me please... i wanna do an cafe but i cant beaucause i need item and i need some motif so who can help me ?
Def the 3rd has the best proportions.
ty ty
Wow your waterscaping looks very natural. Kudos!
Does anybody know if rocks will spawn like this? If I remove the stonehenge and let the rocks spawn, can I place it back once they're all in place?
I think so, but you may not get all of the items from the rocks if you plan on hitting them.
That's fine, I go to nmt islands to whack rocks
But I do think the rocks will spawn there, it would just take a long time.
hii i’m looking for entrance inspo specifically for an island which has resident services close to the airport (:
a small little bit of my island. garden infront of the museum. i made the path myself! first path ive designed. my theme is corgi my islands name is corgihaven lol
It's not really much of an entrance, like other people have huge awesome waterscape fixtures, but it's really close to my plaza (just above the gate)
omg that’s so cool 🙀
The only issue is it looks a little strange in winter. Depends what season you spend most of your time in (assuming you TT)
I need some help decorating this area. Its a little party room in the Cafe section of my island. Second pic is to show the theme of the "finished" area (i might change the food and maybe move the light.) I need ideas of some other cool items that would go good for a cute or kid birthday, I ordered 2 more cute chairs too. Gonna change the positioning of the furniture and add custom design flooring like the cafe.
Hey guys! Which fence is better for my land bridge?
The one on the left!!
Thank you so much 🙏🏻
I need some help with a forest style build if anyone has time.... And pathways
whats the design code :3
Anyone have good stone path designs?
Poppy's new home on Villefleur main st
some WIP areas on my island!
does anyone have any springcore entrances? i really need inspo!! ;_;
I think I did a cute
Some newer additions on my island.
I have a question did you put paths underneath the custom path? Or just on its own
The codes are over the paths
I know but I’m wondering what’s better
If it’s on its own or if there’s a path underneath
Well it depends if you like it or not
Ah ok ty
Np
I love this it’s so cute 🥰🥰🥰
Trying to squeeze stuff into the gaps on my island lol
able sisters! I'm going to put some clothes outside, maybe a kimono stand, not sure yet tbh
I feel like all these decorations in this area seem a bit too random and cluttered up. What should I do with it?
Specifically the oil tank, storage shed, phone booths, and solar panels. Should I maybe move the campsite entrance sign farther down and just put a bunch of tents there? Or is there a better idea I could use
Also, I'm mmmayybe thinking of doing something about these random flowers I never got around to touching? Maybe replace them with better flowers in a specific pattern, or would something look nicer with the whole spa area nearby? I also have a bunch of flowers along a path beneath the cliff as you can see
My island entrance so far… I’m planning to add some shrubs and pink flowers 😍
A viewing point I added on my island
Does anyone have any good ideas or refs with resident services close to the airport? Mines like 4 blocks up and one block to the left and I’m just positively dying
I created an airport terminal right in front of mine on my first island with some fencing, some like snack machines/drink machines, and simple panels using a code that I found with flight schedules. This island I'm working on now (same layout just flattened) I did something just a little different and I do have pictures of this
I'll have to see if I can find the pictures of the initial one that I did
Yeah here we go! This was my initial design when I first started playing when the game came out for reference to another really close resident services design
Diana, Poppy, Azalea
Code? Of the gray fench?
Here are some of my close entrances where I was able to kinda hide res services.
the first one nan is actually standing in the res services plaza directly behind the castle gate: the middle on res services are one tile out of sight to the right of the second tier cliffs: and in the last one res services are behind the castle gate to the right hidden by the little road and plaza
@de4d.bird sorry! meant for this to be a direct reply to your question
does anyone use tombstones on their island?
I have one and different black flowers, I was looking for a little graveyard inspo.
Are you talking about the fence or the path?
Path, pardon me
I just started an island is a close RS okay to decorate for a Christmas Island?
Yeah that would be cool it looks pretty centered too.
I think it is perfectly centred but will see when it upgrades to be sure thanks!
I need a second opinion on this mini fountain spot I'm putting between Nooks and Able Sisters on my island. Not sure if I like it or not
💒
Thoughts on this?
It’s a bridge with a custom design
But with swinging benches on the left and right
Looks cool! I would recommend putting some kind of vista on either side to make the bridge more appealing.
Of course I plan to put something on the other side, for right now it’s just a bridge
A vista is a good idea, thank you
I have this spot in my island that just infuriates me lol. I never know what to do with it and I'm not a great builder. Any ideas / help?
If it’s your fruit farm do you have any fruit DIYs? You could make a mini fruity themed cafe in the middle of the trees? Just a suggestion ^^
I dunno why but I'm at the point where I can't stop myself from tearing down things that I've built all over again
Btw is it a good idea to put some of the houses on the main part of the island? I feel like there's not enough space for decorated yards to look good with the current layout.
Day 1
Wdym its beatiful lol
Thats what my island looks like after my first day in the island
Can I have the codes for both grey tiles pls?
Hey I’m Adri hope everyone is great💕so I have my switch since December and i have not been the most active player until now, I recently just unlocked the able sisters shop and I dont know where to start in making my island pretty and ofc increase its ranking, I feel like its a mess right now so I’m not sure where should i start or organize things so I was wondering if anyone had some tips and if i need to send photos of my island or map I will but pls help me out I’m so lost

Awww cute dog
I knooow
I need that someone too, I'm new just one month with my switch
what have you guys done to use as a path border? I don't think I have enough bushes and fencing just looks odd from the side. any item in particular you like to use? ie, during christmas i use alternating green and red moss stools cos they look like gumdrops lol
Anyone have a forestcore island i can visit?
mine is like close to the same
Only two more houses left to decorate before I can begin actually working on the small bits of terraforming/laying out my city! (and yes I am the insane one that decided to cover my entire island in sand for a desert gambling city)
I am pretty new aswell, I started just about a month ago. And when I unlocked terraforming I was so overwhelmed and didn’t know what to do. My tip is to pick one build that you would like to have on your island, and if you can you should even pick out a theme ( Witch I still haven’t). The build could be like a garden, farm, cafe or pretty much anything that you would like, if you have a theme like a Forrest themed island for exampel. Then try to keep the build to that theme. And then do this with different parts of your island and hopefully it will come out being pretty nice, after a couple of months… Or a year…
Sorry, now I just wrote to much and it’s probuably confusing. But hopefully it helped!
thank you ☺️
I’m building a castle like one of those old castles that have a museum about the castle inside of them about the history and stuff, but I don’t know which castle type to go for… do I go for the worn down version cuz it’s old or do I pick the regular grey, dark grey, or maybe even brick? I don’t know! Someone help? I need matching medieval building sides and decorative pillars for the build as well
I can't recommend the eroded, mossy version enough. But for any of them the key in my opinion is to make them blend into the floor as much as possible. If it's grass, I use the mossy one, but on my current island I use the beige kind and made sure the floor matched up wherever it could.
The reason why I guess is otherwise the castle looks too artificial. Kind of like those plastic castles at disneyland. Old castles tend to be part of the landscape in some way, since they're built into the ground rather than on top of it. So if you want to keep the floor grassy, I think the mossy walls are the best look for that.
Hi, I have a ton of black lilies that I was focusing on breeding, but now that I have a bunch, I have no idea what to actually do with them.
Any ideas?
I'm not really wanting to do a flower field.
Currently, I'm going for a bit of a Japanese theme on my island, but ideas don't need to be limited to that
how did you get that pose at the bottom? super curious haha
There are two reactions in the pro reactions book which cycle through the poses your character does in the dressing screen, I think they're called like Work It and Act Natural.
I think this one is Work It, you have to do it a few times since the facial expression is randomised!
oh thats so cool! i didnt know that!
this help any?
thank you! I was thinking about using this type of fencing
no problem! its one of my few areas not overrun by flowers lol
That's a really cool idea~~
The pictures of your town are just too adorable I love your aesthetic
Thanks so much! Your castle looks so so cool
Searching forestcore islands
My entrance. Would love to hear some opinions if I should add or change anything
my brain wants one more of the smaller star fragment pieces or a star clock right behind the first pillar on the bottom left, she’s so stunning 🤩
@rough rain I tried a cpl different positions tho
I tried to do what u suggest but because the tile beside the butterfly model is only half I can't place anything on it which is bugging the heck out of me 🫠
ooh good job! try and donate more bugs and stuff and it's a good idea to sell things
Thank youu
if you'd like to visit or get the DA i can arrange that
Visiting sometime would be great 😊 I also wouldn't mind the dream address though since sometimes I feel a bit silly running around looking at everything
ahhhhhh that’s ok it still looks pretty without it 🫶
It’s so cool like straight out of attack on titan
i have no clue what to do with my islands awful layout any suggestions
Heart shaped pond tho
yeahh thats why i picked that island
Are you into the idea of multiple villager neighborhoods or do you like them all in one place?
honestly i dont mind id do either
My first island is kind of like yours except mirrored
I tried to get every house onto my core island but I didn't want to sacrifice plots of green space and community gardens
your island looks so cool
So I had to put a couple houses on the central area
Thanks!
I don't really work on it anymore. It's mostly at a state I'm happy with
i’m currently onto my 4th rebuild of my island 😂
hopefully 4th time will be the last
so much rivers 😭
Yeah I love the water but wish we had the option of internal sand beaches
you could use the sand path
ohhh 😭😂
I may try the flooded island again in the future
frfr
Anyone have any good jungle island ideas ?
I've never seen it but thanks!!
Genuinely tho people who can do a good island design have talent I just suck cus il do something and end up hating it
To those of you who have really nice islands with terraforming… how do you plan for it and not get overwhelmed? I feel like it’s a lot. My homes and businesses aren’t even where I want them anymore and I don’t want to start over. 😪
My advice? Don't plan. Listen to some music that fits the vibe of your island while building and just build whatever you feel like in the moment. Half of my island wouldn't exist if I hadn't done this.
I honestly didn’t plan. I kinda just picked a theme and built things that would fit with the theme
But making a moodboard with photos works too. I had a combo of real life photos of places +acnh builds for inspo
Totally agree with @woven drift. And like 90% of the time when I plan something, I end up having to change things so much that the outcome never resembles the original plan anyway!
Just take a rough idea of what you're building i.e. a cafe, grab a bunch of furniture and designs you know will look good based on your inspo, and just set it all out visually.
Some advice from me is, if you've never done a complete themed island before, don't flatten it out. Use the terrain as it comes naturally unless you want to tunnel it out for something in particular i.e. putting a lake somewhere. Flattening first is for high-concept, well-planned islands and that's what some people happen to be good at.
@fallen gate @fiery tendon @woven drift thank you so much. That’s what I’m doing now. Great advice!!! Here’s my first improv inspiration at the entrance.
Oh I'm so glad I wasn't spouting advice that was absolutely ridiculous. Thanks for validating me @fiery tendon , @fallen gate . lmao
Any island opens? ☺️
Good idea!! If you don't know where to start, work from the south (airport entrance) upwards.
If you aren't already, get a pinterest or a moodboard and overflow yourself with other people's stuff. 99% of everything I've built in this game is a mish-mash arrangement of ideas from inspo - certain tables and chairs that look nice together, custom designs, items that I wouldn't have thought to use otherwise, literally everything.
I would check the #island-hangouts🛩️🏝️ tab. There are many people there who have open islands free to visitors. 👍
Ope sorry. Thought I was there!
Hey if you’re looking to visit an island or play with others, head to #island-hangouts🛩️🏝️
Oop rogue got it
I’ve been building my town and I added a little post office, I’m still yet to fully finish it tho
Rip I forgot you can’t move the town hall there goes all that planning 😭
It looks so good!!! I love it
Follow up question: is it the same deal with the entire island? I feel like I need to have a general idea of what I’m doing before I start, but it’s just super overwhelming and then I don’t end up doing anything at all haha
Yeah I would say so
Your island doesn't have to have just one cohesive theme. Maybe it's helpful to think in terms of structure density
Would you want your buildings tightly together or more spaces apart
I always prefer having my buildings be compact so that helps me narrow my designs
Another thing you could try is to go in thinking you won't terraform
Having that creative constraint helps to alleviate creative anxiety and shifts your brain to problem solving mode IMO
Man I really can’t figure it out, which custom path should I use on which ingame path…? I feel like at least option 3 custom path matches the castle items best, but then I dunno on which ingame path to best put it. I also like the cobblestone vibes of options 1 and 2 but then it seems double to use those on the ingame stone path because they’d both be round cobbles. And then number 1 is also nearly the same colour so maybe not the best… anyone wanna give their insight? Much appreciated
I’m leaning towards option 3 on the arched tile path, but the stone path gives me more old timey vibes
But I also really like option 2 but it’s like slightly too light compared to the castle I feel
Did larger patches with just 1 and 3 on both stone and arched path and I jus aaaaa i don’t know!!
First
Found another custom design that’s a perfect match to the castle items but now… stone path or arched tile path..
stone
Yeah def stone
I’m still here putting the options down and staring at em
Stone is less busy looking and arched is I guess maybe fancier? Leaning towards stone yea but gonna put it down and stare at it with fresh eyes later lol
Sorry I’m asking a ton about my dummy castle I just wanna get it right so I don’t have to redo it after fully decorating haha
I feel that. I do that all the time where I just log on and look at it for a bit until I decide 😄 Another option you could try if you want to test it out is not use the stone pathing underneath and just use the stone custom code you have you can make it look run down with like weeds between the stone. Just throwing that out there in case it fits the feel you have in mind.
Stone is the way. Arched is too clean, like the pavement outside the castle has been upkept but not the castle itself
Yea now that I’m looking at it again I think stone will be best. it’s supposed to become one of those tourist location old castles like you have in Belgium or Germany (was on vacation there and went to some castles haha) that have like reconstructed rooms inside and displays and such. The custom code cobble stone can be like the original pathing and then the new looking ingame path can be like the new pavement they placed so tourists can walk on em better haha. I was also playing around with maybe using the mossy castle and the brick castle together to indicate parts of the castle that were restored but it looked a bit funky. Now at least I have the paths decided haha, Thanks guys!!
Does anybody know how i can make this better, i feel like there is missing something.
Maybe put down some paths and hedges?
Yeah I think pathing would help and maybe some more layering of items, furniture, flowers , etc. so it feels more full. Make sure you vary height of items as it will create a more interesting view.
huge wip but here are some highlights of my island so far
So i'm kind of a pickle, i wanted to make an entire neighborhood section leading up to a school where the museum would be the school building but i forgot that the entrance to the museum is 3 squares long and now i cant fit it in the middle, any suggestions?
Maybe really lean into having it offset? Like push it to the left side and make a cute winding path to it?
Hmmm i dunno, schools tend to be really "square" from what ive seen
I was thinking more like a prestigious university where you have to get though the landscaped campus first
Nah mines just a normal school
So I rlly love the cherry blossoms floating around during spring but I want my island to hve that all year round but since that's not possible, confetti and bubble machines are my next choices. I don't want them in plain sight so I try to hide them as much as possible like in the first pic but idk how to hide some of these bubble machines in the 2nd and 3rd pic 🥲 any ideas?
You can do two inclines if you don’t need the extra incline somewhere else
Hey do you have the code for either of those paths? I need it
I was kinda thinking of that, tho it will be hard making it so it lines up decently
Just finished my post office, what do you think?
The stone looks like the gate in Wild World
Almost done with the bottom left of the island
Searching for a forestcore, city core, autumn City core or elegant core i can visit
Wow. It’s actually insane how much effort and time it takes to do this sort of thing. Looks amazing!
Awh super cute tropic vibes
