and I've found that there are only three reasons that keep me playing a video game anymore:

I have daily incentives to play and know I'll feel rewarded to complete them
2a. I'm playing and socializing with a friend. Multiplayer games
2b. I'm playing it to discuss it with a friend later. So, solo games that I can discuss my antics and opinions on w/ a friend
Allows me to express my creativity and show it off to the world

...funnily enough, Animal Crossing can fulfill all of them.
