Mine does that all the time. Chances are you've had enough updates now that your device is struggling to keep up with the connection/data needed. (I always find my game works much better on my tablet than my phone, though they both play up nowadays)

Nintendo apps are ridiculous in the sense that if your Internet stutters even a tiny bit you have to relaunch them. The more stuff they add to them the worse it's gonna get
