My Dad growing up was the dad that called Pokémon Pokeman and etc, but regardless he supported my interests along with my mom and knew how much Pokémon means to me. Even after all of these years of getting obsessed even though he loses track of the games now.

How do I know? Years ago for my 23rd or maybe it was 24th, for my birthday, he was out of our city travelling and I’m not joking, he went on a business trip to Japan one time and he went out of his way to get me pikachu themed stuff for my birthday in the event he wasn’t home for it.

Another instance I recall when I was younger if there was anything Pokémon related, he’d always try to get it for me since he knew how much Pokémon meant to me.

I still have the plushies to this day XD

Tbh my Mom and Dad are the type of people like Gomez and whatever his wife’s name is. They’re not goth or anything but they’re the type of parents that are like: “I don’t understand it but I’ll gift it to my Kid because I know how much they like it.”

Because one Christmas, I was going through a Halo phase.

And I mean a massive one.

And they knew the books were important and they found them online for 10 bucks.

To my parents: “Yeah… too good to be true.” Logic kicked in and my Dad travelled an hour to just check with the seller it was legit and not a scam and made sure they were good quality.

Sooo yeah. Again, my parents are Gomez and his wife now that I think about it haha.

Actually want to hear a more funny yet bizarre way to showcase he did try to understand Pokémon so my kid self wasn’t too heartbroken?

If you guys know you know but you see, back when Pokémon Platinum came out, I got it and it’s special Giratina figure alongside it since I got it on the first day it was released if I recall correctly.

I loved that freaking figure. It was so awesome. But for some context about my living conditions back then: we had a MASSIVE and I mean a massive backyard and back there I would play with all of my Pokémon figures. Including that special Giratina.

One day my Dad needs to mow the lawn and I gathered all my figures… save for the Giratina and he mowed right over it and it was completely destroyed… he obviously felt very guilty and shown me the wreckage and sincerely apologized because he knew it was special. And as a way to break the news to his daughter without causing her to cry: “I… I guess that battle was too much for him?”

I can tell you and guarantee you that my Dad won’t remember this story but I do XD

I think subconsciously that’s why Giratina is my favourite Sinnoh legendary now XD
