As for tips, my biggest tip is to farm up as many materials as you can whenever you can! You can get wood from trees and rocks from- well, rocks- once a day for each tree and rock on your island! time traveling is faster (duh), so you log the time when a villager last left your island, then go forward 2 weeks from that date.

Odds are, it's just extremely dead. If it isn't charged enough it won't be able to hold power as it turns on - especially if you are playing it handheld. If it's in the dock, it might still need adequate charge to turn on, hold power, and play.

If letting it sit and charge for 10 mins and it still isn't turning on, I'd look at the charger cord, block, and dock to see if there are any issues there.

I don’t play handheld. I just keep it in the dark because I have been playing on my other consoles.

Not really, but I’ve been on it a few times. I’ve got it just put it on charge in the dock now so I’m gonna see how that goes but the charge hasn’t stopped. I’ll be back in about 10 minutes and let you know. Maybe a few weeks ago, I don’t think it was very long.

Batteries will lose charge / dissipate energy. If you have the console fully off, and depending for how long, you'll barely notice a charge loss.

Heck, I keep my 3DS in a cabinet and I recently turned it on after being off for several years and it had 30% charge. lol

You have to do it through the system’s save data settings itself to start a new island and delete it
