Some maths for you guys: New Horizons had the biggest wait time both in terms of console release and previous game release, but that's understandable given it was esentially a reboot of the franchise and they most likely had started a Wii U game and had to scrap a lot of it. The other games in the franchise all came out 1-2 years after the console released, 3-4 years apart from each other. It's already been 5 years since New Horizons, making this the second longest wait between games.

Given all of that information, the knowledge that New Horizons was the best selling original title on the Switch, and the assumption that Switch 2 will release this year, I would guess that we'll get a new Animal Crossing game in 2026. Yes, the pandemic was a big reason for New Horizons' success, but it also opened up the Switch to a whole new demographic and sold a lot of systems. I think Nintendo are very aware of this. 'Cozy gaming' has really become a thing of its own, and for the first time Animal Crossing has a very popular genre that it fits into. I think Nintendo will want to tap into that market within the first 2 years of the Switch 2's life.

Those are my thoughts anyways! I'm waiting to go to the airport so I've just got too much time to kill hahahaha
