Have the chances of tarantulas spawning on mystery island been reduced? I took a long break from the game but started playing again a little while ago. I remember hearing about tarantulas being nerded but I never got confirmation on whether it was just a rumor or actually true.

they were heavily nerfed quite a long time ago, sometime soon after release, and that hasn't changed since. there's still a tarantula/scorpion island you can get to via nmt, but player-made ones (where you strip the mystery island of it's resources) are no longer an efficient way to make bells. it's fine if you just need one for your critterpedia/musuem/bug models tho

Giftedness simply refers to villagers that were given items that change their default home interior/wardrobe. Light/heavy indicates if they've been given many gifts vs. very few. It doesn't have any in-game benefits or downsides, some people just prefer ungifted villagers because they might not like what the previous player gave them and it's a bit tedious to undo giftedness.

You can take whatever villagers you want, as long as you know you won't get that same diversity of recipes. You will occasionally get recipes from personalities you're missing from your daily beach bottle, but that is random. You can also, if you have an active NSO subscription, trade people for the recipes you're missing or visit people who have villagers of those personality types that are crafting.

I find it easiest to sneak up on the sea creature before diving. Swim toward them, then once you're in a 2-3 tile radius, swim toward them using only the joystick (don't press A). Once you're on top of them you can dive.

Alternatively, some people have luck chasing them into the corners of the nets, as it forces the creature to turn around.

Yes, the first camper will always be a smug, he will appear the day after the camping is built.

If you don't have 10 villagers yet you need to place a plot for the camper to be able to move in.
If you already have 10 the camper will replace a random villager, that will immediately be in boxes once you've agreed.

You can obtain different variations from one of the dlc npcs if you have it as well, if you don’t have NSO. Otherwise yes trading with other players will be the best (and fastest) way to obtain different variations. You can also check out Redd, and try and pop balloons to get different variations of items as well if you don’t have NSO! Once you do obtain a different variant of an item, you can reorder as many of that particular variation/color as you’d like from nook shopping

I think if you get someone in your campsite you can put a plot down as soon as they show up and then invite them in. but villagers won’t show up on islands if you don’t have a space open already

so if you’re trying to get a villager that way, just stockpile nook miles tickets until you have a good amount and then use them all in that short window of time

Yes, you can see if you have an active membership by going into the eshop > your profile (your picture in the top right corner) > scroll down to current memberships. You should also be able to see it by logging into your Nintendo account on the website directly. If there's no active membership, then it may have expired.

Also do note that memberships (unless family) are only for the account that purchased them, so if you two have different accounts then you wouldn't reap the benefits of him purchasing a sub.

So the stringfish won't spawn until you've caught at least 100 fish, that's it's catch lock
