The money itself will do nothing. You'll have to use it to buy bridges/inclines, furniture, flowers ect in order to increase the points to get your island rating up. I'd suggest reading the above Nookbot message which has the link which explains how island rating works :)

I think i did it. For some reason the DLC wasn't downloaded. So i needed to do it manually. The NSO page send me to the DLC page on shop then under the title appeared the option do dowload it.
