It follows the sell value rules now for the fruit. So if it's less than 750 bells, you don't have a chance at a photo. Now for the method to work, you need to use an stackable item that has a 750+bells individual sell value (like pearls)

@icy heron The game date is determined based on the switches time, most likely when the switch died it changed it's time and that changed the games time, if you already played that day you wouldn't get the announcement again ^^

If you have several specific villagers you are looking for, but they also have to replace specific villagers you already have.
And you go out to Hunt for “1” but run into “2”, would you take “2”, even though “2” would then have their house in the “wrong” place?

the only way to get miles is to do the miles tasks, but if you want nook miles TICKETS and have an online subscription, you can try trading for them

well, you can move a house per day so it'd take 3 days and the cost, but since that is at least possible i'd recommend you take the villager you'd eventually want because there are hundreds of villagers and you may never see them again otherwise , without online help & trading
first five villagers won't have their "correct" houses though which could be a counterpoint (still hoping an update can give a solution to that)
