Nope, as soon as they leave the island theyre in whats called The Void. This void consists of the latest residents that have left your island, and they only stay for a certain period. So you should be able to see them in a week or so

FYI, villagers you gave away will not be in the void. They will be in another player’s island obviously. The villagers that will only go to the void are the ones that did not get adopted, like you let the day passed without anyone inviting them from your island or you tt a day backwards or forward while the villager is in boxes leaving your island. But still even if the villager got adopted or went to the void, when you go hunting they can show up right away in mystery islands even if they just left your island. (New copy and no remembrance of you)

How does the villager friendships between themselves work? I saw something like that in the acnh pocket guide app

There is no friendship between villagers, their interactions are purely random

Sometimes villagers stop to talk to each other, and the player can join in on the conversation. Depending on the personalities of the two villagers involved they can have various dialogue; the chart on the acnh pocket guide app is a very rough summary made by one player based on their perception of whether these interactions are more often positive of negative.
But it actually has no incidence on friendship with the player, it won't prevent villagers from talking to each other or visiting each other's houses, it won't make villagers more likely to move out, etc; all it does is occasionally make the involved villagers sad, mad, or joyful for a few minutes after they chatted together.

Save and quit the game. Then go into your switch settings > general (at the bottom) > time & date and change it there. Does not cause you to lose your island or anything. This is also how you time travel (TT) in game to go to different times of the year.

Time traveling does not reverse / rewind progress. You still keep all the progress, items, etc. that you've completed / acquired even if you time travel backwards.

• Shooting stars only happen between 7 pm and 4 am. There are two main types:

• Heavy meteor showers: These are usually announced by Isabelle and discussed by villagers, with stars shooting in groups of 5 to 8 roughly every minute or so during the whole night. These are pretty rare, averaging around 10 per year.
• Light meteor showers: Only a handful of 5-star groups shoot each hour, if said hour has a clear sky. These average between 5-10 per month.
• Note that weather patterns use a seed and are set in stone for your island, including when the shooting stars will appear, to the second. You can use Ninji's MeteoNook app (https://wuffs.org/acnh/weather/) to help determine your seed and get your weather and shooting stars forecast for your island.

Make sure both of your games are up to date. You can try closing the game and restarting your consoles first. Local play can be finicky, so a quick refresh sometimes does the trick.

Or, you can also try adding each other as friends, if you aren’t already. Then choose the local play option, and only allow gates to be open for friends. (This is what worked for me when I had an issue with local play, a few months ago )

You should be able to, it isn't counting the 5 wasps that spawn on your island but just 5 wasps in a row in general (meaning you can use mystery island wasps). So all you need to do is reset the tree, and I believe tree drops can be reset by closing the game right after shaking

• mystery islands (requires a NMT)

The first person’s island I went to, three nights ago, had time traveled and I didn’t realize, so I just got the Virgo recipe there. But that wasn’t the case with the next two, so the only thing I’ve been able to come up with is that the time travel messed it up somehow.

the catchphrase is the thing they say at the end of sentences, each villager as a default one, like ace, or crisp, but if you tell them a catchphrase, they'll use that at the end of sentence, and can learn it from other villagers.
it's different from nicknames and greetings, who supposedly are proper to each player.

If you want her to move in, you'll need to hit yes when she asks who's interested in moving and then pick who you want to move out

No there is not She'll visit a maximum of once a week, during one of the meteor showers of the week if there are any (it's more likely for there to be at least one). She prioritizes the heaviest meteor shower of the week, and will be on your island from 7pm to 4am

When one of your villagers is leaving, and packing up their stuff (=in boxes), another player with an empty plot can come invite them to live on their island! And yes, only when they are in boxes, specifically leaving the island
