yo
after switching to a lower sens of 65cm/360 my skypad is no longer ideal
I'd be thankful if someone would chime me in on the latest and greatest with regards to mousepads
for low sens in particular

is it too fast?

not enough stopping power

I can flick by click timing but actually stopping very fast is not possible at higher speeds

For background context, I also use low sensitivity, but I have slightly difference experience. I used to use 60cm/360 (2400 edpi) with a g903, but my arm would get way too tired after playing some Ana in Overwatch, because that thing is heavy and you gotta look all over the place as Ana. I use a g303 Shroud Edition now at 50cm/360 (2800 edpi) and I see myself sticking with it because its more comfortable.

For mousepad geared towards low sensitivity, I have a couple opinions I want to share. Also take this with a grain of salt, because I am some random person on the internet who could be talking out of their ass.

Your mouse will have more kinetic energy when flicking it around at a lower sensitivity compared to a higher sensitivity. If you want to stop that mouse for a flick, you need to bring that kinetic energy to zero using friction. In theory, control or slow (high friction) mousepads are good for this, because the higher friction will stop the mouse sooner.

This is why I think glass or fast (low friction) mousepads like your Skypad should be avoided, because they have some of the lowest friction out of all the mousepads out there.

In practicality though, too slow means that micro adjustments will be less granular and more difficult because of the high friction. Your arm might also get tired faster for an unpleasant experience. You should ideally find a balance between high friction for stopping power, and low friction for micro adjustment ability and your arm not getting tired.

Your aim style/preferences might also affect what your balance is. High friction is good for flicking, lower friction is good for tracking. I play a mix of them, Ashe, Cassidy, Soldier, Tracer for in Overwatch for example

I have tried:

  • Glorious Helios
  • X-Ray Aqua Control +
  • Fnatic Dash
  • G640
  • QCK+

The X-Ray Aqua Control + is not bad, but too fast for my liking. I felt like I was overflicking on it. The texture is also kind of hard and bumpy, not very pleasant for throwing your arm across at 65 cm/360.

QCK+ I couldn't micro adjust on this one and it wears down so quickly.

I really liked the G640 because it felt like it had the balance I was looking for. It's not a bad place to start experimenting, since it's about right in the middle of the friction spectrum of mousepads. It's also decently cheap, but it wears out somewhat quickly. (Personally, I've used one for about a year, and the difference after breaking it in is not that bad.)

I felt like the G640 was too small at 450x400 mm, so I ended up switching to the Fnatic Dash XL Desk, which has a size I really like. 950x500 mm. 500 mm is my cm/360 so thats perfect for calibration in new games. Its also massive so I never run out of space. It's a little bit faster than the G640, but I'm okay with that to balance out the fact that my G303 isn't the lightest.

TLDR: balance between high friction for stopping power, and low friction for micro adjustment ability and your arm not getting tired
I would recommend the Fnatic Dash if I had to choose one.

Around the same friction balance, but I haven't tried so IDK:
Artisan Zero - Very expensive and hair problem though
LGG Venus - Can't buy on Amazon, so shipping fee is also required. The regular version is 4mm thickness, so your arm might feel that more vs 3mm
Razer Gigantus v2

Sorry for writing an essay. I had more to say on this than I thought.
