17-19 not sure if i should stay at tokyo only and do a mount fuji day trip and one extra day for tokyo or stay somewhere near mount fuji
19-23 osaka
23-26 kyoto
26-28 tokyo (shinjuku stay)
28 return flight from narita
recommend what to do for the 2 unplanned days.

Yep that's one way to do it, then you can explore Shizuoka or take a bus to Fuji, plenty of choices

Also, what do you expect of Fuji-san? Just see it, or climb it. Because the latter is not an option in March.

If all you want to do is see Mt. Fuji, go to Fujinomiya city in Shizuoka. Stay at a relatively more affordable hotel. You still get great and fairly close up views of Mt. Fuji. In addition, visit the Mt. Fuji World Heritage Centre to learn more about it.

At the very least you should leave Tokyo and maybe check out neighboring Kanagawa, like Enoshima. But that’s not 2 days worth either.
