It really depends on what hotel you stay in because in ShagriLa that's probably going to last you two nights lol

#

Jokes aside, you need to first look at the hotel prices on a site like booking.com or Expedia and go from there

#

And hotels get real expensive and real busy in Tokyo so I suggest booking right now if you're thinking of this coming August

Cool. I'd book it then

We aren’t gonna be high dining

Definitely enough

#

You are looking at ~ 1000-2000 yen per meal if it's just your regular stuff like ramen etc

Make sure you book something you can cancel for free. Then you can always change if you find something better or more convenient. Location also matters....

might be worth splitting the stay to east and west side if you plan to explore both areas

If you're just staying inside Tokyo transit should be 1000 yen/day/person or less.

yeah it could take 20-30min going from shibuya/shinjuku/ikebukuro to akihabara/tokyo stn / asakusa etc, so you could lose 40-60 min going and return

#

though depends on what kind of stuff you wanna see / do I guess. Last time I mostly stayed east side, cos I mostly do sightseeing in the east areas

You lose more by switching hotel. That whole day is screwed.

true, if you stay longer than a week i suppose it's more worth

broken bison

Yes. Longer stay it can make sense, but just 1 week is too much hassle.

They can just put shinjuku - harajuku - shibuya into 1 day tbf, just walk from north-south or south-north XD

Planning saves time. No point going east-west-east-south in 1 day. pvg

yeah group them into locations and plan accordingly 😄

If your not flying, still not that much of an issue. Or maybe you just shouldn't make such a mess! 😜

Like I said, wouldn't do so for a week, but say for two weeks, one week east and one week west could save you quite a bit of time on trains crossing the city. And especially in a city like Tokyo where you can make very long days, it also makes it easier to have a little rest at your hotel, or drop the stuff you bought.

Well sure.

I have a friend that goes to college with me and that’s his hometown, he wants me to visit

About half an hour train ride from central Tokyo.

Obviously does depend from where in Tokyo to where in Yokohama....both are pretty huge cities. A 3 hour trip is not impossible either.....

But 30 mins from THE Tokyo station. pvg

At least Tokyo Station is actually in Tokyo.....unlike Fukuoka Station 😅

Anyway, lets not confuse them more. Simple answer is that Yokohama is indeed near Tokyo.
