#Stream Packet Loss when moving mouse.
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
When you leave the network stats window open, how it goes?
Packet loss, latency spikes, etc?
If you know how to use WinMTR (a software to traceroutes, check more precisely latency spikes + packet loss), I can provide you the server NP address.
So, you can grab some tests and send to your ISP to check.
hi are you there?
Kinda of. 😅
Which server you're using? Priority or Ultimate?
priority
And server?
EU southeast
its just when i move the mouse that i lag
i have polling rate to 125hz
and have tried both browser and geforce now app
i do use a 5g connection though
Right. Start your testing routines then...
- Start a gaming session;
- Press CTRL+N and leave that window open;
- Monitor your packet loss and latency (if you see any spikes);
Using WinMTR (it's just an executable file that you can download safely on Internet), put this address and monitor how your packet loss, latency and routes goes:
And, to make sure and if you're able to, connect your device via Ethernet.
Try to dismiss WiFi for your tests.
ok ill try bf2042
from app or browser?
i have notticed the the app doesnt use my bandwidth
hello
ill try web
also what settings should i try
does it matter
im sending you a speedtest
Both should work almost the same.
GFN uses the amount of bandwidth that is needed. When you have moving scenes or too many things happening on screen, it will use more bandwidth.
When you have less moving scenes, it will set the low usage.
once its doen
my ip is from 5g so its ok
its not public
the app is using like 4 mbps and is blurry
I removed your screenshot above, because it was showing your IP Address.
Your speed is more than enough.
I will suggest some...
- Bitrate manual, to 25Mbps;
- Disable Adjust for poor network conditions;
1080 p ?
Yep.
i dont think people can do anything bad to my ip since its from 5g
its not like a home network
and also 5g might be my problem
we'll see
As you set your bitrate higher (before), it would require more from your Internet, your browser, PC.
Starting from 25Mbps should give it a relief.
yes but
i did try with max bitrate and stuff
and it work flawlessly
it just lags and freezes when i move the mouse
This is why you need to test in parts. 😅
Less bitrate + monitoring your network stats screen (CTRL+N).
im seeing some weird hiccups with my ping right now
ive launched both geforce now and winmtr
its pinging
i have 2 recordings
WinMTR, I recommend you to leave the test running with using anything else. Leave it open while you live your life, for over 30 minutes.
Then, head back and check the results.
i can upload them to youtube whitelisted and i can send you the link
i see
now that i am on geforce now also?
I wouldn't recommend to leave it running along with your GFN session.
For your GFN session, only monitor that network stats window.
Check latency spikes + packet loss.
ok yeah
Then, after you gather everything you need, move to WinMTR while you live your life outside the current device.
yeah so what my setup is, i use usb tethering to my computer and my phone gets n78 nr band
it is indeed giving me some packet loss
but we will see later as well
my isp is launching sa in the short future in Athens. (today they launched in Thessaloniki)
i am on a game
I see.
Testing is boring, I know. But it's necessary and will help you to sort it out this situation.
ok so
it is working ok now
do you want me to record via geforce now and upload very quickly on yt?
ms varies from 45 - 60
but thats my 5g problem
other than that mouse works
hello
:c
i dont have packet loss, it was just that my phone swapped from n78 to n1
there is some packet loss
Yeah, you're losing packets. A lot, for a short time in that session.
Yeah.
After that, use the same settings that I suggested above, and try to use GFN app.
But I believe you will stick with this hit or miss situation. Let's hope not.
i switched to geforce now app on the same settings
but i changed the vsync to adaptive since there is none on the browser
in
idk
i have some other questions as well
they wont take long
its about the routing
should i close the game and show you the traceroute issues im talking about
Once you finish your WinMTR without anything open, you can paste it here.
But start it from zero, without anything else running.
Nah, only those that uses high bandwidth. As I was joking before, leave the test running while you're living your life. 😅
Something close to it. Don't need to be exactly 30 minutes.
ok its up
omg
i just saw something
to clear things, if i had normal landline connection i wouldnt have the 20ms in the first relay
thats the downside of this version of 5g
then, i see a lot of packet loss from my isp side
from s3company in gr-ix thessaloniki, the packets die
if i had an isp like wind, i would have straight connection to vivacom
everyone in greece has the issue with s3company
With my isp Cosmote
I had some problems with my ISP, in France. I had to switch to another provider, because it was impossible to use GFN and Shadow in peace.
bruh
i bought a surfshark vpn subscription
i have a lot of issues connecting to the geforce now servers with it though
i dont see packet loss with my 5g
btw
When a ISP does somekind of throttling, VPNs usually helps. Also for ISPs that sends us to overloaded routes, also helps.
But, usually, GFN isn't every VPN friendly to use during the sessions.
yeah i found a trick
i connect without vpn and then start vpn and boom it works
but it only works on the app
chrome version bypasses my vpn
somehow
and i manage to play with 25 - 30 ms with vpn
without vpn 40 - 60
and as you can see my isp is so bad
please also help me if you can so i can write them about this issue with their routing
30% packet loss
from their end
look
Yes, only on the app.
If I'm not crazy, the web version uses WebRTC. This is why is "bypassing" your VPN.
it doesnt bypass windscribe :c
So, I believe their service blocks WebRTC requests.
Probably.

Well... Now you have all the tools to monitor your connection + what is going on.
WinMTR is excelent and helps a lot.
Indeed.
if you could perhaps help me with writing them about this
packet loss is a problem not a request from me i suppose
I believe there's no mystery on how to do it. Gather the screenshots, while not congested, and show them what is going on.
Show your GFN network stats and point them everything that being affected by this.
yeah
WinMTR (after around 30 minutes running) + GFN after a few session minutes with the network stats window open.
That should do it.
ok thank you very much for helping me at this moment,
tomorrow morning i will try with winMTR hopefully it wont be as congested
but the mouse issue is not there anymore (at least not as it was before)
No problem. Hope you manage to sort it out soon.
This is a step forward. 😅
5G SA will save me i swear
it makes it so 1.000.000 devices can connect per square kilometer
from 100.000
ight cya thank you for your help
i will follow you up soon when i have more info!
Thank you! Good luck with that.
Feel free to share the follow up on this situation here.
