I’ve been using the Ultimate tier for awhile now and just noticed that setting my region in the GFN to South instead of auto gives me a 3080 instead of a 4080 on auto, but i also use the 240fps competitive preset. What i’m questioning is should i use the 3080 region that averages 15-20 ping or the 4080 that average 30-37 ping, so real question is should i prioritize 240 fps but MORE ping, or significantly less ping but 120 fps cap. Thanks! And if you have any questions about it feel free.
#3080 Over 4080

You can check if your server has 4080 rigs available which it most likely doesn't if it assigns you to 3080.

that’s not what i’m asking…
Why would you ask how you should play the game? that's literally solely up to your own personal preference.
if i select auto for my region it gives me a 4080 rig but i get higher ping averaging 30-35, if i select an individual server (south) i get a 3080 rig but significantly lower ping averaging from 15-20
If you don't have any issues playing on 4080 I don't see why you shouldn't.
Ask yourself if you notice the extra 10-15 ping without the CTRL+N telling you that the extra ping is there and you'll know the answer.
does ping influence latency
ping is latency. 30ms is nowhere near to impact your experience.
competitive gamer
Like I've said, play with both without looking at the ping and ask yourself if you see the difference. Taking someones recommendation over things like these that might not even impact your experience any different is not what you want to do.
thanks. And yea honestly it feels much better on the 15-20 than 30-35 ms
i’d take the 120 over the 240 fps
every ms counts when i play competitively, even though the feel might not be much noticeable
If you play competitively, then look at saving for running locally.
GFN will redirect you to the closest 4080 rig depending on if you have reflex on or not and what server you're connecting to and what game it is.
Hopefully in the near future GeForceNOW will come out with 4080 servers for atlanta or anywhere in georgia for that matter, having that 15-20 ms added on with the 240 fps would be a dream.
but that saying theres no telling when or what the next servers will be.
They'll be releasing the 4080 rigs on every NVIDIA managed server, EU and US.
