#Are my specs enough to use GFN?

Having a bit of trouble figuring out what version/gen of Intel HD graphics I have. Can anyone determine from this if my pc can run GFN? I do get the "Your system does not meet the minimum requirements" 0xC0F1103F popup, but I don't know if its because of a bug (I've seen some on reddit have it end up being a bug) or if its because my specs don't support it. All help appreciated

Ive tried some google and reddit posts but i cant seem to genuinely find something that tells me what series i currently have on this i3

granite oxide

Open the Run on Windows and type: dxdiag
There you will see a tab called Display. Then, you should be able to see which version you have.

Other posts i saw had the number next to their graphics, mine just says core i3, and in device manager it just says "Intel hd graphics" with also no numeration next to it

Oh my days. This is something new, as it's missing a lot of info.

exotic tiger
#

this cpu z does look a bit different from the one i used on my desktop some months ago, i dont know if its an older one or not or if thats a problem

#

the one i used on my desktop a bit ago had a red theme to it, mightve just been the msi version

#

cause i just dl'd this one from the 2.03 section

#

What I suggest you, is to download the Intel software detection and see if you are able to update this driver.
If so, it should show you the proper info about it.

exotic tiger
#

is this what you're referring to?

granite oxide
#

Yep.

exotic tiger
# granite oxide Yep.

All it really did was redirect me to their site once i clicked 'check for new drivers" and it found no new ones

#

it does outline my graphics info here if thats of any use aside from what windows has already shown

granite oxide
#

That's really weird, in fact.

#

According to that date up there, it's kinda old. GFN would use DX9 instead of DX11.

exotic tiger
#

Yeah this is a pavilion g6 laptop, my main desktop has a dead gpu so im making do with what i have

granite oxide
#

Now tell me...
How does it perform when you try to play using the web browser version?

exotic tiger
#

Have not tried. Does it have to be on chrome for best performance?

#

I currently run firefox on this laptop but can install chrome

granite oxide
#

Nah. Feel free to try on Edge or Chrome.
Both browsers are supported, and worth the try.

exotic tiger
#

Edge can work then, let me give it a shot

granite oxide
#

To get a better performance, at first, try to use a InPrivate tab.

exotic tiger
granite oxide
#

Great. oui

Also, don't use higher settings, like higher bitrate and resolution.
Lower your bitrate to 15 or 25 Mbps, and set resolution to your currently one or 1280x720.

exotic tiger
#

Yeah even though im on ethernet its kicking me out at random intervals from the queue, this is definitely gonna be long before i can try

It works. If you have DMs enabled, I'll send you something.

One sec

#

They should be on, give it a try

granite oxide
exotic tiger
#

@granite oxide these were my results just now

granite oxide
#

I think it's fine. But do what I said, to start with 15 Mbps (bitrate).

exotic tiger
#

Ill give it a shot

exotic tiger
# granite oxide I think it's fine. But do what I said, to start with 15 Mbps (bitrate).

Okay, i started with 15, 1366x768 60 fps settings. I did about half a match of pvp and loaded into a pve zone and tried to mess around. visually it looks to be about 30fps give or take (ingame tracker is about 60-90, but thats because d2 is unoptimized), and i do notice the delay between my mouse movement and the input showing ingame, though it feels passable in pve, less so in pvp where everything is fast paced

#

i only had maybe 2 times where it kind of froze up for a second and just continued as normal

#

should i try 25 next?

granite oxide
#

Try a bit less, like 10 Mbps. Or lower the resolution to 1280x720.

exotic tiger
#

can i do both?

granite oxide
#

Also, press CTRL+ALT+F6 and check your RTD, which is your current latency to the selected server.

granite oxide
exotic tiger
#

Okay, i just loaded only into pve. here is the RTD

#

it loaded into pve at 60fps for the first 20 seconds or so, and it felt great. latency between mouse and game was still there but the 60 made it much more bearable and smoother. then it dropped off to 30 after

granite oxide
#

49ms. It's fine.

exotic tiger
#

for the time it was at 60 though it was pretty good, dont know if i can maintain that

granite oxide
#

You can leave this stats window open while you're testing, as you did. Then, you should be able to track how the shared internet will impact in the GFN usage.

#

Feel free to try other settings, or even test out using Chrome. Let's see if you will be able to find a proper settings to make you play, at least, in good conditions.

exotic tiger
#

Would chrome even make a difference, considering edge and chrome are both chromium based?

granite oxide
#

In my personal experience, not only GFN but also other cloud gaming services, Edge is always the works better.

exotic tiger
#

interesting, okay

granite oxide
#

If you decide to try, give it a shot. It varies from person to person, and I would never say never. 😅

exotic tiger
#

What adjustments should i be making from now on then? should i try higher MB at low resolution or still keep the mb low? we got somewhere with this one considering i kept 60 for those first 20 seconds

granite oxide
#

Keep the Mbps lower, as it would demand more from your internet in case you decide to set it higher.

#

Adjustments, try other low resolutions, but keeping you at 16:9 aspect ratio.
Or even Chrome, to see how it performs.

exotic tiger
#

gotcha. ill try resolutions first and hop on over to chrome later today, i also need to make dinner in a bit but so far im liking the progress.

#

again thanks alot for your help so far, ill tag you if i make any discoveries with the settings lol

granite oxide
#

And you have 3 days to find what fits better. Hope you get there.
Good luck.

And you can ping me once you get better results. 😅

boreal tide
#

the game will be above 60, but stream will be at 30 seconds and then randomly will be 60 again and back to 30

#

its usually for low end comps

#

so it doesnt explode, pretty sure

exotic tiger
#

at this point i feel my eyes can handle 960x540 lmao. stream is defaulting to that but nvidia only lets me go inbrowser as low as 720p for 16:9

exotic tiger
#

@granite oxide Tested out chrome and made sure vsync was off. higher basically 60fps stable when ingame menus but when actually playing stays at 30 and id argue the mouse delay is worse than edge, so i think edge wins here

#

its sad cause it being 60 and keeping it consistently got me happy but then actually loading into patrol and playing dropped to 30 and then the mouse delay went horrid lol

granite oxide
#

It's a real challenge, indeed. caden

exotic tiger
#

as far as pve goes i can make it work, gonna have to dig deeper into it because doing raids with fast mechanics might prove troublesome, but ill cross that bridge when i get to it

if you can watch youtube 1080p videos you can play games on the geforce now

granite oxide
exotic tiger

@granite oxide ive found a slightly better option. I can run GFN on edge on my original xbox one and it runs my stream at 60fps no dips (og xbone runs d2 at 30 capped). Only issue is latency now (still running ethernet). Anything i might be able to do to reduce latency further to make it better for things like pvp?

granite oxide
# exotic tiger <@185558779520090112> ive found a slightly better option. I can run GFN on edge ...

Hard to tell, tbh. Xbox isn't a supported device, despite NVIDIA doesn't block it.

Usually, users that uses it to play, report latency issues.

What you can do, is to try to use a Insider build, that should bring some early builds to your console. Then see if Edge will face the same problem.

As the web browser version doesn't provide you a network test, it's harder to see where this latency is coming from. Either from the console itself or internet.
