what's the news
oh
the particles scene imported into the assets
was there anything else in the recycle bin
no, it didn't
you said you deleted the particles samplescene, correct?
well scenes>samplescene
yes because you put it there now
yeah
so the deleted one is the one you deleted from Particles/Scenes
Not Assets/Scenes
so check the recycle bin again
okay
will do
there was samples folder and samples.meta
which is just this
ughhh
so nothing comes up when you search "scene" in the recycle bin?
so right lets have a recap, i imported the particles sample scene, that was in particles>scenes>samplescene i think, then i realized where is my sample scene, so i deleted the particles folder to clear things up
lmc
UGHHHH
so where is my ORIGINAL SampleScene? where can it be, because i didnt delete it, i honestly think that particles has fucked everything and just overwritten my own samplescene, cause why would it ask me to reload to make changes? no other asset ive imported has asked me to do that, none
but it isn't possible for a folder to overwrite a folder higher in the hierarchy
in assets/scenes
unless you moved it
but this is just the particles scene
not mine
so its 100% overwritten it
YES
no
ok...
it was for my samplescene
but I don't understand how this happened then
exactly that asset im telling you dude its overwritten my becasue we had same names
thats whats happened
but that's not how files work
and i'll forever hate that asset
well...
heres my question to you, why did it ask to make changes and reload my scene?
hold on let me check something
because it wanted to overwrite my scene and reload to the new imported particle scene
okay
dude
see the scenes folder
with 'SampleScene.unity'
this is what overwrite my SampleScene that was in Scenes folder
it fucking overwrite it
i knew it
the particle scene wasnt in particles>scenes>samplescene it was in scenes>samplescene
hence the overwriting
thats so dumb man
get it now
In the other screenshot it looked like that was all inside the particles folder
but yeah ok that's just a bad asset then
fucking dumb asset man
why
also i should of changed name but still
dumb ass asset
yes
now, next time, make backups, check what you're importing, and make prefabs of important things
thats what ive learnt from this lesson
well thanks for trying to help man
appreciate it
well its back to the drawing board for me ahhhh
the joys
if it helps, the game I'm working on now, I had to completely restart 3 times
and now it's way better than it would've been if I hadn't
damn man, thats fair enough ahaha
yeah sometimes a full restart can lead to a better project
and hey, whats a good game without a couple of hiccups ahaha
but yeah probs should close thread now
thanks again
@buoyant forge shut it down
It goes away when time limit finishes. Also anyone can use threads.
