Does your character have an Animator component with an Anaimtor Controller and Avatar assigned?
Well logically the script is all about moving not about animation, so I'm thinking there's no error in the script. Is the animation done in animator?
Ye he does
And the Avatar was generated from the model that you imported to Unity?
Yes
From blender
It worked the first day, everything was fine. After I did something idk what happened lol
Can you share screenshots of your player setup please?
Things like:
Animator component
Animator Controller setup in the Animator window
Import settings from Blender model, mainly the Rig tab and Animation tab
Ofc, gimme like 15 minutes
@mystic marlin Hahahah I'm sorry gng, it got delayed. My room is occupied by some strangers
I'll tag you when I'm on aight
Shouldn't take too long
@mystic marlin okayy im here
im on it
trynolights is my avatar
it does have one warning but its not an error. It should work just fine
heres the play
Cool thanks for the extra details! 😄
When you click on your player and open the animator window, how does that look?
Just wanna see how the states and everything are setup in StarterAssetsThirdPerson animator controller
Yeah I gotchu
Wait 7 minutes
Okayy
Are you here? @mystic marlin
Kinda, watching a movie rn lol, why?
dang
if you have time to check it lmk
And the animations in your blend tree? What does that setup look like
Also the .anims you have in project view, if you click one of those does it show import settinsg in the inspector?
A lot of your setup looks right which is confusing, but maybe (and this is just a guess for now) the .anim files don't have any rig association so they don't know how to map to your character rig, yet
u mean this? yea the animation is cool and works
wth does that mean
Click one of the .anim files in the project window and show me what it says in the inspector, if it has a Rig section show me that
When you made Humanoid rig on your Character Root import it actually maps your rig bones to Unity's Humanoid system and handles animations that way, the idea being if you have multiple animations on a human skeleton you can easily point them to different characters and if they're both humanoid then it doesn't matter what the underlying bone names are Unity can still figure out what is spine, arms, legs, head etc.
But what I'm thinking, just a guess really cause all the other stuff looks good, is that your Character Root is correctly mapped to a Humanoid rig but the .anim files which I guess are the animations you're using in the animator, they're not mapped to a Humanoid rig, maybe Generic or something, so Unity doesn't know how they map to your Character Root
You'd have to click on the Locomotion--Run_N.anim file instead of the Run_N to see the import options
So how do I click on the locomotion run
Where's that
Should I click on that
Yes the locomotion run has source but the previous avatar not mine
Should I change it
What does the Rig tab show when you click locomotion
Try change source avatar to your one
instead of Copy From Other Avatar try change Avatar Definition to Create From this Model and then hit Apply
The source box should disappear when you do that and unity will make avatar based on the .anim rig
lol wtf
Is the trynolightsAvatar that you have in your Animator controller the same one that was generated on your Charater Root import?
I dunno lol
If you can share the project files with me I can take a closer look tomorrow but I gotta go to bed now
If you're familiar with Github that'd be good
If not, you can prob just zip up your character and animation files and send them here
aight whats ur git
Coniix
Conor evans
ye
ther eu go
aight imma see u tomorrow gng, night, and thanks for checking out
appreciate it really
np np
That's just your scene file, you gotta include everything under your Assets folder
aight
here I am
sweet, zip up everything in your assets folder, post it here and I can take a closer look then
can use WeTransfer, it let's you upload up to 2gb and share a download link that stays alive for 3 days
you don't need my email for it, you can just share the link here
yee i got it
3 files sent via WeTransfer, the simplest way to send your files around the world
it got the assets
character model from blender, the fbx
Sweet, I'll download now and take a look, see what I can figure out
bet bet sounds good
It's animating for me, only thing I saw was your trynolights object had no Controller in it's Animator. The animation looks pretty scuffed when it runs, probably some weight painting stuff in blender.
I'm guessing you're gonna try making it move around like the robot with input too but the version you gave me has none of those components so I was just fiddling with the animator values directly. There's some guideline stuff for using these assets on the unity channel I recommend checking them out
I can see all this stuff is coming Unity's Starter Assets - ThirdPerson package from the asset store, I'm not familiar with that myself cause I just learned to build all my shit from the ground up but it can be a good learning tool for you, I'd say start going through the Docs / Tutorials that the docs point towards for that third person package, that and a tonne of googling / other tutorials should give you a better understanding of how all this shit fits together and works, it ain't gonna be easy and takes a lot of time but that's always the case when you're trying to learn and get really good with unity
Starter Assets overview mentioned in docs -

Starter Assets are designed to work as a quick start into prototyping and developing character controllers for various game genres, using systems and methods that are easy to build and expand upon for different projects.

Is how it was looking in my Unity, can download that to see the (scuffed) anims on your char
yes I just wanted to switch the avatar which I created with the robot
and keep the animations
and inputs
it all worked out the first like day
but after something fucked up lol
Yeah there's a part in the overview on the Unity youtube vid specifically about that, should check it out
bet I will
good luck buddy
thanks gng
