#Lowercase internal container paths in AssetBundle built with custom script
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
what do you mean?
i hope you find a place that can help you with this
isnt this the place to ask about things like this?
I'm not sure it's a mod, it just looks like windows explorer looking at asset bundle files
Windows is a case insensitive file system. There's no difference between upper or lower case in Windows
Edited
I think asset paths in bundles would be case insensitive hence them being forced to lowercase. Addressables is unrelated because addresses should be cases sensitive and are not related to path.
I see no good reason to want this. Explain more if you have a valid reason.
linux and android are case sensitive
And neither of those are Windows, which is why I specifically mentioned Windows
but is there no way to keep the casing?
thats all im trying to figure out but im struggling
Are you building on a Windows machine
yep
Then no
so id need to do it on linux
it was a request from a friend
i built a bundle script for him but he said the paths needed to keep casing
Pretty sure Unity will load the bundle just fine without it. Where's the code that loads the files that's causing problems?
i dont know what he's using them for, but he told me that the bundles didnt work unless the casing was preserved
im only interested in if there is a solution
This seems like the problem is whatever code is using the bundles
will building the bundles on linux fix my problem
Not sure. Can't really answer without knowing what the bundles are being used for
Yeah but normally you'd be loading the assets in the project you made them for
Not knowing the code that opens the bundle is kind of a weird situation
i know as little as you do right now and im only looking for a solution
How do you not have information about your own project?
it seems fairly straightforward
its not
its not my project
!!
There's no command called
!.
🤔 then why are you asking about it
no
Okay bye
