#Technical Test Suggestions

for what position?
game programmer
which country?
India
The studio makes hypercasual games like endless runner, idle, tycoon, match based
I am told to give a 5 hour practical live test, not sure what to prepare for
code analysis to start with.
Indian companies tend to rely very much on qualifications and portfolio's so expect questions on design patterns and principles
Got it, but 5 hours would also mean that they might give me a prototype to make, right?
or one to fix, which is what I do
I see, so shall i just prepare the fundamentals in theory for now, or shall I make some prototypes as a mock test?
I do have a beginner level portfolio though, which is already shortlisted
I do have 2 days for it
fundamentals in theory would be good, I'm guessing this is for a junior position
Yep
I consider myself as an early intermediate, have been developing games since an year
that is still very much junior
But Im just curious if they ask me to make a game prototype in 5 hours, what would it be
You know, so i can be just prepared mentally beforehand
probably a simple platformer but it's really impossible to tell what others place value on
Yeah, im also guessing on some casual/hypercasual game mechanics
And more like questions on guessing the output of a program, or fixing the issues in code
It may be just a refactor to see how well you implement known principles
One thing, I wouldn't worry too much about completing the task, they will probably be much more interested in how you approach it and how well you solve whatever problems there may be
Yeah, makes sense
Is this in person or online?
in person
better
One round will be of 5 hours, the another round with the manager
I assume I wont be able to use the internet for some help
help, as in if Im told to make a project
of course you can, take your phone and laptop to make sure you have an internet connection
no matter, take your own if you have one
Yeah, I will
and don't rely on being able to connect to their wifi
indeed, shows initiative as well, bonus points
Yeah, absolutely
good luck, hope it goes well
