#Implement a Filter that blocks the words ChatGPT and similar

ChatGPT, chatgpt, Chatgpt, chatGPT, GPT, gpt, Chatbot, chatbot, Chat-GPT, chat-gpt, chat-GPT
There's already rules for AI in general:
• Don’t post unverified AI-generated responses in questions or answers; check for accuracy, and state what’s AI-generated.
However, perhaps it might be nice to add a point regarding pointing out AI as a solution. Not to prohibit, but in #854851968446365696 as a point that you really should not relate AI with an answer and/or discussion.
That said, muting people for it is silly. I think it's fine enough that people point out the use of AI and either don't help them or tell them to learn things properly. Unfortunately we do still have people helping in good faith, which despite the good help often fall on deaf ears since most beginners don't even kow how the code works.
"don't use chatgpt"
[gets muted]
"i used chatgpt" (a helpful detail to know)
[gets blocked]
just the words without context will be too broad to meaningfully filter
yeah maybe more detailed stuff, or more strict moderation of people suggesting chatgpt, there is already a rule but its not really enforced
this is a crazy thread
I don't understand why people hate AI so much. It's a great tool and it's starting to become more prevalent. Instead of disregarding it, people should be educated on how to use it. It's super powerful. It can help you learn anything!
it's a tool but people are treating it as a replacement for actual learning, a truth machine
that's the problem
You are missing the point
AI is a very good tool that helps and works as good reference on what you build. The issue is that beginners don't use it as reference but rather as a spoonfeeding method which provides all the code, regardless of their understanding of said code
Result is that these people come here and ask for help on their code which is buggy. Even if they were helped, it solved nothing as they have no clue how the code works. Any additional modifications and/or additions just lead to more bugs, repeating the cycle.

Also relevant is the general rules that point out AI generated content
I also think your conversation in #archived-game-design has been very clear why we don't allow AI generated content as questions and/or answers
I somewhat understand that for beginners. Either way, if used right AI can be a great learning tool. It can guide people and help them find the answers. In a professional setting, AI is a great productivity boost. Many tech companies, including my own, have adopted AI readily as a tool. Professionals that use it can see upwards of a 30% increase in productivity. Personally, when ever I use it for what ever I'm working on, from my experience has produced high quality, bug free code, with good comments and explanations. But, I'm also using GPT-o1 and 4o, which not everyone has access too. GPT-3.5s coding ability is so so, and yes it does produce buggy code, that I agree with you on. Everyone has their own opinion on AI. Instead of out right banning, we should spread the knowledge of how to effectively use it and engage with it.
if used right
this is the problem
it's hard to check if it's "being used right"
if it isn't, that'll just create problems in the future
beginners just don't have the background experience to effectively use it, even if they had the knowledge to
It's inevitable, but all that's really changed is less people are copy pasting code off the forums, and more that people are copy pasting code from the the AI. Both can be resolved by asking those if they have debugged their code ;p
if used right AI can be a great learning tool
I heavily use it. I got ChatGPT Plus because it has been so incredibly useful for my work projects. Unfortunately the subject is way different with this server, though. Beginners can't write proper prompts and they take the generated code for granted. They take all their code from AI and end up with bad buggy code.
And no, I would much rather help people with writing good code and debugging than teach them how to use AI. That is something that comes with experience anyway, and it's a pointless skill to have if you can't even write code
Dont bother this guy is forcefully dumbing out to not hear it or stuck in an AI dreamworld
Logic doesnt reach people like him, i tried before and a mod aswell, its no use
He doesnt understand that its a great work tool for when you know how to code, but its an atrocious learning tool
he even calls it a learning tool, you have to be so naive or (sorry not sorry) dumb to call AI an learning tool
