EditorLoop taking up ridiculous amounts of time, and even after profiling, nothing of use came out
Weird. I'll have a look at my environment when I get home.
also @last bough I went back to my latest commit, 2 weeks ago, and the issue persists
@grand meadow I have an integrated graphics card
Performance is always going to be poor on integrated graphics
but I used to average 200 fps a few weeks ago
not to mention this isnt really the first time
as an example, if I play elden ring
sometimes it runs at 20 fps
next day it runs at 100 fps
literally nothing changed
and I restarted multiple times when I had 20 fps that day
both the game and the laptop
well, yes, that is a function of the operating system. As I said none of this happens in a vacuum
but this shouldnt be a thing, vacuum or not
yes, it is, it's a product of using a multi tasking operating system
I don't think that OS-es have feelings, so I don't think that the "It just didn't feel like it" is an excuse
well yeah, but wouldnt a reset fix these things?
no, why would it. The processes you are running and that the OS is running affect this
also, I wonder if updating my editor to a newer version would help?
or would it corrupt things?
probably not
well all the processes get shut down during a reset
and started again when it boots
then why does it work faster on some days, and slower on other days?
because the OS or your processes are doimg more/less work
I know its not a vacuum, but what changes?
checking for updates is the obvious one
still, this shouldnt be THAT drastic, wouldnt you agree?
of course it can be
this frequently?
yes, basically no one knows exactly what your computer is doing at any given moment
this convo isnt going anywhere honestly
and I am getting extremely demotivated from just working overall
I was thinking maybe getting DOTS would be viable
but if its the editor taking up 80% of resources, would it even matter?
It's either your hardware failing or there's some issue with your environment/os. Maybe it's switching between the integrated and dedicated GPUs.
This is probably not normal and there's a specific reason why that happens. Assuming you're not lying about it being normal a week ago
Did you nuke your library folder yet btw?
didnt try yet
Or if you tested this in an empty project and the problem persists then it wouldn't matter
a week ago I got like 100 fps on all my tests
I said it before, I had to cap the fps at 60 because of some issues when I had high framerates
yeah thats the thing
When I'm profiling with the Game tab maximized during play, it only renders the game view panel as it should.
