#fullscreen image scaling issue

ok, thanks
so, you should first make sure the build is actually working properly
do this by making some obvious change to your game and then building
like moving stuff around, changing font color, whatever
Also, what version of Unity was this, again?
I have literally everything on windowed 1920x1080 and even in cavnas, I just don't get why
2020.3.38f1
@spring current navarone just wants you to make some large, obvious change to the game before you build it
If that large change doesn't appear, then something is going wrong with the build.
@spring current reply here, also read these ^
I don't know what is wrong with the build, and right now when I try to build it, this appears
Look at the first error in the console.
I see one about a missing "Player" prefab, which suggests you've deleted the player prefab.
weird..clear console and try again
also u still didnt change a color on font just to test lol
This missing prefab could be in any of your scenes. Perhaps it's just in one of them.
what color on font?
doesnt matter
something u can recognize as changed, so we know for sure its a clean build
Literally any major change.
Given that the build is failing, I don't think your previous build worked either.
I never deleate player prefab anywhere, I just don't get why i'ts acting like that
Just check each scene, please. You'd see a red icon in the hierarchy
(and "Missing!", I think)
I know that but I don't get why it says it have missing prefabs even though I never had them before
So there is a missing prefab?
I always had them like this and everything works fine, so I don't get why it says it have missing prefabs right now
what am I suppsoed to do?
That doesn't answer my question. I just need a yes or no.
So you do have a missing prefab?
it looks like it, but I never had these name prefabs before
Screenshot the hierarchy.
There are no missing prefabs in view here.
This would be a missing prefab.
I forgot what it looked like. Normal icon, red text
My bad.
oh, let me have a look at it
oh now it's building
Usually, error 1 is the reason errors 2 through 2000 happened
it's the boss scene that is acting like this so I remove the scene from build settings
but I still don't know how to fix this issue
where is the change you made that we supposed to look at to tell its a new build
Again, you must make a large, obvious change to your game
we need proof that it's building correctly
It doesn't matter what it is, but you must make it.
Changing the color of something on the start screen would be enough.
I deleted the scenes and add them again here in build settings and then I click on build and run
We cannot help you until you do this.
yes put How to Play to black text or something
So please just humor us
We are trying to help you.
I've done this more than a few times when dealing with weird problems.
I deleted the scenes again in build settings and added in them again and then build and run it but it's still the same. I don't get what change I'm suppsoed to do
We know. That doesn't mean you did what we asked.
i keep telling you what to change..
I did what you asked for, the canvas, the image, the build settings
lets focus on the first scene that loads, instead of this one
the menu
again. just change the How to play text to blac.. not that diffcult
build and show build so we know for a fact its building new
Are you reading what we are writing? #1157690201225830491 message
I'm getting a little frustrated here.
the white there is not a text, is a drawing
Okay. Now we are getting somewhere.
If you can't easily change that, then just add a button or something.
ahh
or hide the slider or something, ANYTHING Obvious
it's not the buttons or the slider or anything, I don't get whyt ehre's black fonts there like this and the background image is all stretched out to the black fonts
We are trying to check if the game is building correctly.
aslo that last screenshot is the canvas for World one scene
Changing a random thing on the start screen will not fix your problem
did you change it also for the Menu scene (canvas scaler)
We are just ruling things out
I did
the slider is a volume setting
it doesn't matter what it does
dont matter
again
we are simply proving that the game is building correctly
the change is irrelevant
you could delete the start button
you could make literally any obvious change
this is not an attempt to fix your problem
ok, I hide it, then what?
why must I delete everything?
Yes or no: Do you understand why I asked you to do this: #1157690201225830491 message
I want a "yes" or "no" answer.
I don't know how to answer that
So, no.
We think your issue might be caused by your game's settings.
You can't easily see if you changed the settings correctly in the game. The settings aren't obvious.
If the game is not building correctly, you might be playing an old version of your game.
Since the settings are not obvious, it might be hard to tell you are playing an old version of your game.
So, we want to make an obvious change, to make it easy to tell if we are playing an old version of your game.
Okay, good, so it built correctly.
We now know that you're playing a new version of your game.
step one finally complete
ok
Is that background animated?
yes
It looks very different from what you have in the editor.
this is Window mode ye?
I'm not quite sure how that works on macOS (despite using macOS exclusively)
I am on mac
I know that games can either go fullscreen to get a dedicated desktop
or be windowed
You have its fullscreen mode set to "Windowed". Is the game appearing in a window on your desktop?
I know lol I meant you selected Windowed right
ah, that answers the question
yeah I did selected windowed and 1920x1080
let's try something
Im guessing your mac is not 16:9
causing some letterboxig
The problem is that the image isn't 16:9 here
it's more like 2.4:1
(i measured it)
I am wondering if the window is going off the edges of the screne.
did you like double click this window or something?
that is, the resolution in the Project Settings.
here's how the resoultion looks like
I would like you to change the resolution in the Project Settings, so that the window fits entirely on your screen. 1280x720 should be fine.
true
just feel like the mac native res is prob not 16:9 so maybe they stretching the window
im gonna try something out , just hopped on my test mac
wait, when I look at your screenshot and then at mine...
That’s probably just because you’re several major versions behind
I mean if you look at the two screenshots, what do you see the difference?
yeah its probably because ur on 2020
NO I mean when I look at your screenshot and then at Mine, I realised something, I put 1080 on X and 1920 on Y instead
yes they're reversed
proper rez is 1920 x 1080
here is my 1080p canvas
1920 x 1080 Windowed
If I press green button to force fullscreen on it, only slight black bars
is this how 1280x720 supposed to look like?
where these screenshots from ?
a build?
also where did you change 720p
on both canvas resolution and player settings
export and see if it comes out 720p
how do I export it?
the same way you been doing it..Build
is it 720p?
look good now
getting close
hmmm I thinking putting wrong resolution in canvas might've messed with the look as well
when you did 1080 x 1920
they're both 16:9
pick whichever you think will be the main base rez
alirght
oh! I missed that entirely
That'll do it
ok
