@golden lark Gentle appeal for some clemency. I think @code was out of line by name calling and bringing general toxicity to this discord server.

A permanent ban withholds the possibility to change. As people working in a very difficult topic such as game development we all have our good days and bad days. Depending on our maturity (and time of day) we as people are able to filter frustrations better or worse. @code was clearly not exhibiting a very mature filter.

For your consideration; perhaps consider a time frame for the ban? This discord channel affords a wealth of information for Unity game developers and it would be a shame for someone to permanently lose access to this resource.

Full disclosure: I don't know @code nor did they ask me to make this appeal. I just want to make sure that there is room for second chances. ^_^

For what it's worth, we have appealed in the past. Usually kids hitting maturity and writing back.

But given that they were not that (apparently a senior dev), I seriously doubt they're going to make the effort.

Dang. I made a message talking about code (previously known as script) and my experience with them. I gave examples of the words they used (clueless of me) and got autobanned for a minute, and the message was deleted.

Well, a short/clean version of what I said.
They use VERY bad words. They were banned from another server that is much more lenient than this one. I've known them for a while and have NEVER seen a non-aggressive/confrontational conversation involving them.

They are a senior dev with their own company, it's not a "maybe they'll grow up" thing. And the consistency means it isn't a "time of day/stressed out thing"
It went on for a LONG time before the other ban brought them here

Yea was going to mention that it wasn't his first ban in the game development space. At least he managed to tone it down a bit to delay the inevitable 😅

For their sake I hope time brings maturity 🤞

I hope its okay I'm advocating for someone like this. I didn't realize the history that was shared in this thread and seeing some of this stuff does change my opinion. I do also hope to live in a world where people can change, ask forgiveness, and communities can be open to that change (within reason of course). This server is such a treasure trove of information and I cringe to think that someone is behaving in a manner that denies themselves access :S
