Even if I fail to guess what the issue is, you can solve these problems pretty much every time systemically by simplifying the setup and testing parts of it until it works
Then rebuild it and keep track if it stops working again

This version obviously can't transition from defense to run with shield, but that's to be expected

That's why I always try to do very simplified tests when there's more moving parts than I understand
