so this is my hierarchy
the "Names" object is an empty game object
and has a text mesh child object with the bot's name
here you go
the collider is the plane
the plane is spawned on start, generated from random parts
I wonder if the alignment is anything to do with the size of the box you've got
there doesn't appear to be any reason it's so large
the size of the rect transform of the bot's name text?
i'll resize it, resized to:

look where's the "Amelia" text for example
and look where it is in the scene view

the pink on is max, then noah, then amelia
this is how it should look also in scene view
never had this issue been struggling with it since this morning

relaunch Unity
so i have different camera for the UI display
and when i disable that camera
the bot names also dissaper
oh.. some very relevant information ..

enable that later on the main camera
