guys I need your serious opinion. would a tournament based game be popular? i know it depends on how good the game is, but say we're in two parallel universes, and in one i publish simple multiplayer mech battles game. in the other i publish the same game but it has a tournament scheme: every week you can enter a small tournament with random players for just 1$ fee and then players 1v1 til there's only 1 winner (128 enter, after 7 rounds there's one winner who gets 100$). then there's a bigger tournament every month with even more players and bigger prizes and another super huge tournament yearly. which one would be more popular? ofc in the last one there would be a normal multiplayer mode, as long as private tournaments
#GAME WITH CASH PRIZE?

Do you have an experienced team of developers?
couldn't say AAA, but yes
You should probably first make the game at all and see if it works, only then think about special marketing strategies like tournaments
also I doubt anyone will be willing to enter the tournament before your game has some popularity
if you believe you have what it takes to make a successful multiplayer game (because it takes a lot)
