About?
About whatever you feel like, not any topic in particular. We can talk about how is it going with our projects and things in general.
As long as it's Unity topic we won't get arrested
For sure. Sometimes it helps talking with other devs and just asking how things are going on for them, helps alot.
I'm currently struggling setting up T4 template for my project π
What are you working on ?
Right now this one https://github.com/cathei/LinqGen
I wanna source generation to test my source generation and that makes me dizzy
Interesting project, is this intended towards big projects ?
That looks amazing!
If it goes well. I'd use it in other projects when it gets mature
You got a boss now π
He looks like a friendly guy what can I say
As long as you don't get too close to it
One piece of advice, unless you're having some other elements appear in the frame try to center Skurl just a bit more into the frame. The angle is great but he is a bit out of frame towards the end and perhaps after the camera stops keep him 1 more second or so into the cutscene so that players get to admire it a bit more.
After all you worked hard on it so why not make use of your work.
If that's the case then it's perfect but if that's the final rendition he could be a bit more in the center.
Nevermind it's perfect haha!
In regards with the UI I think you need to work a bit more so that it fits better with the game's aesthetic. Currently it looks too clean and it feels like it does not belong to the style you've chosen. @light furnace
Is it DMC reference to use both sword and a handgun
its there for prototyping, i'm probably not going to keep it
Text should be readable above all else
this is why it's clean
Got it, I'm curious to see how it will turn out then. Currently looks promising.
I wonder when Unity will support 2D NavMesh
I'm baffling my head with implementing an A* algorithm with my world, experienced some issues today with Unity but I've managed to work them out.
It doesn't ? @dire talon
That's another thing I'm working on as well. It gets really complicated when your terrain is procedurally generated.
I'd like to implement something with it but don't really have any idea
Something like minecraft-sandbox esque project would be best for DOTS but there're plenty of them out there
Plenty of them out there and most of them are garbage lol. Ideas without substance are worth nothing. A world without interesting gameplay mechanics is just a boring world no matter how shiny it looks. If you have a great idea that also sounds alot of fun then go for it my man.
Don't let the numbers scare you, most of them are just quantity not quality.
Oh yeah those are great. Stress is a killer. If my game sells I'll buy myself a house near a lake and woods so that when I wake up in the morning I can go outside, enjoy my hot chocolate and close my eyes and just listen to the nature.
Do you guys have like goals ? As in if one day you make a game that sells what changes would you make to your life ?
I think making a game that is great itself is a goal for me
Buying a comfort house would be great tho π
Right ? And not like anything fancy even a cabin would suffice. Something that's allow you to spend some time close to the nature like your own retreat place. A place where you could write down your thoughts your ideas.
Tell you what being a millionnaire may just make you enjoy whatever you do
I don't think so, money is tempory happiness
it makes finding your happiness easier
Of course life is more than just having money.
The hardest part of finishing a game is working on it.
The hardest part when working on a game is finding the solutions you need.
The hardest part of finding the solutions is implementing them.
The hardest part of implementing those solution is having the knowledge to do it.
The hardest part of having the knowledge to do it is studying.
The hardest part of studying is concentration.
The hardest part of staying concentrating is avoiding distractions.
The easiest path to deal with all of that is trusting yourself, the project and having faith that everything will work itself out in the end if you don't give up and take it one step at a time.

I was trying to run away from voxels and I just realised that I have to get back to voxels
Why are you running away from voxels π
It's a complicated area to get into
Complicated = lots of fun bugs and problems
Yeah I think voxel deserves dedicated tool or even engine
They have a great plugin in Unreal for voxels but for Unity I can't seem to find anything like that.
Probably somewhere in Asset store
Holy shit I had the greatest revelation while digging for options
I think I have an idea of a neat workaround which would also play great into the gameplay side of things lol.
You did it ! π
