Is your ceiling just a flat plane?

If yes, you should do is as a cube, so we have a side of the cube facing the light with its normal.
Light can shine through objects, when it hits the backside of the normal.
You **can **use a flat plane, but then you have to add a material which renders both sides of the normal.

No it's a cube, I will add material to it to check whether this solves the problem or not

Maybe its a Bias problem. Check if it changes when you play with the Bias or the near plane
