#Mesozoic Valley Rework
1 messages ¡ Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Yeah, I didnât see its use as it was really similar to the other raptors, I was going for unique Dinoâs here (ignore the spinosaurs)
Unlocking 3 generators at level 4 sounds a bit much
I kind of disagree. We unlocked 4-5 generators in several Beyond episodes anyway
Also rank 1 meso unlocks 3
QUETZAAAAA
@cosmic canyon I reckon u should add Kentrosaurus from stego, and add oviraptor and gigantoraptor somewhere
And maybe inbetween ichthyosaur and Mosasaur add Prognathodon (smaller mosa)
And add like Styracosaurus or diabloceratops after trike
Potentially Anurognathus as another pterosaur branch (or is that more microraptor type of thing)
Also wheres cynodont
Didnât add it cause it doesnât fit the dinosaur vibe. And for the rest of the other dinosaurs you mentioned, I could add them as trophies since they are kinda niche.
Rank 4 basically sets the groundwork for you to unlock future theropod dinosaurs, without confusing you by adding them later or not.
oke
How do you guys think I should go about the whole Raptor part? Cause it feels very janky, since I have no clue on how it should go. I would love some feedback on it.
Also, should I post updates in here or the main channel?
What is janky is that Tyrannosaurus and Therizinosaurus are grouped together
linked to Allosaurus
Ideally both should be tied to the root Theropod generator
However it's also possible to tie Therizinosaurus to Deinonychus (if you rename the latter to Maniraptors) or to Gallimimus
I know it looks janky, but it looks a lot cleaner, as I wouldn't want to have like 10 dinosaurs linking from one generator
Also, the Therizinosaurus is kinda accurate as it evolved from Tyrannosaurs
I mean it's already a better design than the actual mesozoic valley
Did it?
Not sure that much, but it's very closely related to Tyrannosaurs, correct me if I'm wrong
Like how Humans and Apes have a common ancestor
But for simplicity, I just attached Therizinosaurus and Tyrannosaurus Rex
It's more closely related to Gallimimus and Deinonychus than to Tyrannosaurus
It's a maniraptor
Also what's the point of making Pachycephalosaurus and Dracorex appear at the same time? (Rank 11)
It's not like Mesozoic garden has quests to unlock some generators, so the player would likely just almost skip Pachy and invest in Dracorex
Same with many other generators
Even if we look at it from the game-y perspective and make the Allosaurus node represent all big carnivore dinosaurs, Therizino doesn't make sense - it's a herbivore
Also cladistically speaking Compsognathus doesn't belong to Maniraptors, but I honestly don't know where to put it, if we're not overwhelming a player, so probably it should stay where it is now
The point on Therizino still stands tho
Ok, wow, thatâs a lot of criticism.
I understand what youâre trying to say, but when has this game ever tried to be paleo accurate? We have eoraptor descending from velociraptor, even though it was more closely related to sauropods.
For therizinosaurus, many people say that it was closely related to Tyrannosaurs, I may be wrong like you said, but itâs fine for people who donât know much about dinosaurs.
And for the dracorex situation, I think I updated it in my recent post, you may wanna check that.
tbf, you're trying to improve the sim, so it would make sense putting effort into to being paleo accurate now
that said, i don't understand half of this, so i'll just leave y'all to it
I'm saying that it doesn't make sense to attach Therizino to T-Rex both from a gamey perspective (it's a herbivore, derived from a carnivore) and from paleontologic perspective (they're not even closely related)
Other things are not that obvious and I won't argue against them
Aside from Therizino, the newer version looks pretty good
You do realise that the Therizinosaur is a member of the Tyrannosaur family? Maybe do your research before commenting on this. I purposely added them to show how peculiar and strange evolution can become.
Sources?
Not a direct ancestor, however it is related to many raptor like species, which are also related to tyrannosaurs
My research shows that Therizinosaurus is a maniraptor, and tyrannosauridae only include tyrannosaurinae, albertosaurinae and alioramini
Again, sources
ah
Well, following such a logic you could pin a Deinonychus to a T-Rex, right?
I mentioned that therizinosaurus is related to raptors, like you said, however there are some sources stating that there may have been some similarities. Also, itâs easier to place it near T-Rex than say velociraptor cause of the size difference. I understand your point, however, itâs also factoring in user experience. This game already has some flaws, which although I donât wanna follow, they simply make the game a better experience. If you want, I can change the description to say that itâs not fully related.
My sources may also be outdated lmao
Alright, sorry for the long ass reply
Nvm, at least I heard a normal explanation
Normal?? đđ
What kind of explanations have you seen beforehand?
Ahh,
That's entirely the point of my rant
