Just in the Primary Sim? It's entropy that helps most; ideas are much less of a contribution.

I've seen people say to reboot if it's going to increase metabit production by 10% ish (idk, I don't do that).

If you're willing to go outside the main sim - the other sims (especially Meso), the Reality Engine and any Badges you can get from events help - you can see the multipliers on the snip from my game.

Also - if you're on iOS or android and can put up with ads - keep your boosts maxed (or buy the Infinity Pass - I did that for one month while I was grinding and it saved me so much time).

For grinding: you know the screen on primary with the spinning world? Click the asteroid that appears occasionally (and watch the ad), then activate your nanobots and click furiously while the 30x is active. If you have the pass, switch to another sim, then come back (this makes the next asteroid come quicker) and reset the nanobots. Otherwise wait 15 mins (till nanobots reset) or watch the nanobots resetting ad. Repeat until you get bored. The pass really helped with this (cos no ad for the asteroid or to reset the nanobots).

Get the Value Sorting Routine in the Reality Engine and use it - however many of the 31 entropy generators you have, only buy the thing that gets you most return. Don't use the nanobots auto-buyer. Use scientific numbering notation, not normal or custom (it makes understanding what's what soooo much easier).

Lastly - if you're still progressing: log on as frequently as you can be bothered; upgrade and buy. Is more efficient than leaving it for ages.

ETA: and buy the augmentations from the logit store. There's a pinned post about the best order in the Cells Chat channel.
