i have to admit, that is a bit confusing. You get something mysterious like "use metabits to unlock" and then nothing obvious shows up. A little disappointing.... yes

I figured out part of it. Some generators will temporarily spike your metabit production. For instance, I just grabbed my first martian city, metabits went from about 100/s to 7000/s. But the metabit rate decreases quickly after that. Because the rate is naturally decreasing, sometimes it looks like whatever you do next is the cause of the falling rate, when in reality, the rate is just falling by itself.

You loaded a save that was 3 days old, so naturally, the game gave you 3 days offline progress. The metabits you got were way less than the ones you had in the game you played, so you still lost metabits compared to your lost save... (plus of course the additional income from all the other upgrades you did)

in my opinion, the achievements are harder to get in Beyond, but I think some of that is intentional - even if you spend all your darwinium on giant stars in Beyond, you will most likely not get close to the achievements. Meso is slower and grindier, but easier to get all the achievements. Eventually
