In cells, there are two main types of things to do when you boil it down:
-read up on what you buy
-see funny number go up
Those two can overlap, but they cater to two different inherent needs of humans:
First is curiousness, second is a sort of "need" to max out something.

Thing is, for the first part, you can simply read up on the wiki, and for the second part, just open a calculator 😭😭😭

The Time Chambers/Crystals are really valuable.

Beyond that, the recommendation is usually not bad, you can also look to see if you can almost get something very valuable (the upgrades that are X per civ/life/etc)

In your main simulation some of the reality upgrades you can get are called time chambers. They basically become a multiplayer for your entropy or ideas that increase over a period of time. If you have all of them they end up giving you like a 5000X boost over a few weeks

The optimal solution is depending on patch and your current state of the game.
Also the costs of upgrades have so different magnitutes, that you in reality mostly have only the option between 2-3 things anyways. The cheap stuff you buy anyways because its like 10s of your production

As an example if you never play Events those upgrades will always be useless. If you have 800 badges from Events, those nodes will always be the best (for the price).
