It can be significant (especially if you have more than one of them).

It can be remarkably significant for knowledge and metabits income if you have them, and don't buy any generators until they have maxed out (this could be 14 days, might be less).

I got a small Windows server PC that is always on. I got Cells running on it when I'm not playing. Either autoclicking dinosaurs or shooting stars in the main sim. (With infinity pass)
I got the game on power save mode. That reduced clicks-per-second a bit because clicks/second is related to FPS. But it still earns a lot more than keeping the game closed.

Nanobots are nice for explorations. I always use them there: Fire nanobots. Autoclick. Refresh them and then when I'm out of refreshes I wait 15 mins for offline earnings and I repeat.

Iirc Level X you get a new Dino
Level X+1 you unlock the automate/speed trait.
Level X+2 you unlock the payout trait.
Level X+3 new Dino. Etc.

I think it is a random chance. But the game really emphasizes giving the latest trait cards. So you usually get them quickly. But with bad luck it can take a while to get it automated. And that is very annoying.

I can. But don't want to. The systems I know are home to me. I like what I have. I still use StartAllBack on Windows 11 to get my Windows 7 interface back. And I run a ton of legacy stuff. I have Windows games from the 1990s and a lot of multimedia stuff. SoundBlaster X-Fi with real hardware accelerated 7.1 surround sound. EAX. Alchemy for the games that support it. Winamp with 20 input plugins to play long forgotten game- and chiptunes. I'll stay here for this life.

I can fire up an ancient 3D benchmark called "Final Reality" from 1997. Made by the group that would become FutureMark (3dMark) and run it on my Ryzen Threadripper with GeForce 4070 Ti Super. And it runs without complaining. It's that compatibility that I love Windows for. It makes no sense to run that but I like PC tech and history. Hell I played Doom 1 in 320x200 for years. Of course I appreciate how we came to where we are now. Gamers from now have no idea what incredible, unbelievable magic their PC's are performing to be able to get their AAA-games to run at 4k resolution in 120 FPS.

It is this where I love Windows and the PC ecosystem for. Try to run a 10 year old app on Android. Or application on the mac. It will not even run.

So. As you can't use your cross-platform save and don't have access to local backups, here's what I'd try.

It might work. It has worked for people who uninstalled their game and never did cross-platform save.

Uninstall cells, reinstall it, don't log in to cross-platform. Link to Google Play. Wait 20 mins or so. GooglePlay should push a back up to your phone. It might not of course.

If it doesn't at least one person contacted GooglePlay and the backup has been manually pushed to them.

If it doesn't work, you'll probably have to go back to your cross-platform save. Assuming you won't be able to access the local backups on your old device (which would be the best option).

They've been shortened from 21d to 14d. The net effect is that the Entropy/Ideas gain was buffed, but the Metabits/Knowledge was nerfed

At late-game they're still more time-efficient than regular runs though

They're definitely handy for events and x30 shooting stars. As well as some of the Beyond and Meso objectives. Once you have all 12 of the upgrades that is. Regardless, your knowledge and Metabits income will grow by orders of magnitude so even if you don't prioritise them they will eventually become too cheap not to buy.

If you're doing spam runs, generally the most efficient is as short as you can make it (purchasing everything in range) + fill an extra bar or two

But trust me when I say that it was mathematically impossible for any number of short runs to beat an empty sim of 1h+ in most contexts

I finished my first empty run yesterday. Was RL72 and stuck on ~e23 metabits and knowledge. After my first ever empty run I jumped to RL74, unlocked ||scallop|| and ||vulture||, went to ~5e26 metabits and ~1e26 knowledge. Got VNN, IT, maxed out Poseidon Protocol and Primordial Power, and have only 1 upgrade left for the Land booster, and now only have I believe 5 metabit nodes left and 3 knowledge nodes left to upgrade. I know Idea Booster XI is impossible to max out right now but point being, empty runs go kinda crazy. I wish they weren’t so boring and lame because they’re incredibly useful

Balancing the progress Vs time is exactly what Devs are supposed to do.
