Today, a few minutes ago I have accidentally completed all requirements in Beyond after 31days of playing (started on 14th of Feb - ended on 18th of March). On 17th of Feb I purchased 30day Infinity pass which helped greatly.

Although having no prior experience with this game it could be done thanks to useful information from wiki and this Discord.

You can make backups of the game folder (Steam) or .apk (Android) to reinstall / run them. If needed you can transfer your game with crossplatform save.

Right. You make a copy of the Cells Steam install with the un-updated version, let Steam update, then copy it back over. Steam won't trigger an update until the next update happens.

If you are talking about doing that, you don't have to mess with your internet at all. Just make the copy on the version you are at, then later on, when a new version drops, you'll have the old version to copy back over

You make backups now so you can get back to them later. If you do not have backups you cannot get back unless you find a backup that someone else made. For Android there are usually websites that offer old .apk versions for sideloading.

What can go wrong for example: You buy an expensive Darwinium upgrade in the new version of the game. You load the game with the old version. The old version does not support your shiny expensive Darwinium upgrade and loses it. Then you go back to the new version but the old game already removed the Darwinium upgrade. Things like this are expected to happen. Therefore always have crossplatform saves before playing with this.

Same with reality engine nodes.

The inner workings of how Cells handles saves is unknown. My point being, when Beyond 30 drops, if you mess with moving new saves to an old version, you could easily end up corrupting your save, or losing all Beyond 30 progress and needing to start at the beginning of it.

.. and if you have corrupted your save, and you don't have a backup of it somewhere, you will be.... F'ed.

You can corrupt your game when you load your new crossplatform save in the old version. But then the save on the server will still be fine as long as you load it in the new version.

Do not save a corrupted / messed up game to crossplatform save. It will not fix it.

It is just a save location. No medic to fix any corruption.

why? it's a very easy event.. not that any events are hard, but you know what I mean, I think

For me it is the hardest exploration event because there is little continuity. The extinctions wipe out the important generators every time which hinders the players who are offline for longer periods. And yes there is LUCA but it generates little in comparison to the main generator.

And when you do not have many badges, which is probably true for many players as this event has not been running much the last months it will be harder even.

Can someone explain "science" when you go from level 1 to level 2 in the mini events please and thank you. I understand some things but not enough of everything in this game

i checked the wiki and it seems the knowledge on science is a bit limited, but here is what my best guess is from testing

science is whats used to place you on the leaderboard, you always get 1 from generator buying, and 3 from upgrades, when leveling up i believe the formula is doubling? (as in you get twice as much science in level 3 than from level 2, but only from the missions and level up bonus)

If you are sitting at a dialog box in Cells (like for instance the daily rewards window), that could be why. Just one possibility! Or maybe your integrated gfx are so weak (you do say it’s a 16 year old laptop, after all), that it’s bottlenecking there. That’d be my guess.

For some Garden views, the clickables (which never disappear) are always locked. Sometimes, I can gather them (until they lock after some number)

The ones which shoot across the screen in Tree view are sometimes locked, sometimes not. It certainly seems to be based number gathered in a sliding window of time

Perhaps the free/locked status (in Tree view) is indeed random, but it's certainly weighted by gather rate if so

I'd check my crystal ball but that's too much work, so this is just my anecdotal supposition

Speaking of bugs, Information Theory is wrong:
It actually boosts Entropy based on each Civilization

I just tested it and it did not increase when buying a Mollusk, but did when I bought a Scientific Revolution

Unified Theory, its counterpart in the Knowledge portion of the Reality Engine upgrades, does the same thing but for Ideas (i.e. it works correctly; +Ideas per Civ)

So I'm assuming they just copy-pasted from that one and forgot to change what it's referencing

Also, the Singularity-scaling line (Turing's Ghost, Moore's Mirage, Von Neumann's Nexus) seems to ignore some Singularities 🤔

They seem to be capped at 1130 but this isn't indicated anywhere

Early on, it depends on how active you want to be. You can spam very short runs (on the order of minutes) to build meta-currency for Reality Engine upgrades if you like

At some point (maybe around Neoaves?) you'll have Time Chambers which will enable empty sim (of any duration) to outperform short runs

By that time entropy/idea efficiency has been maxed out and the time crystals are only roughly 20% - 30% of the full reward

If a bunch of upgrades were bought prior to restarting the sim the metabits/knowledge gained may compensate for the wasted time crystals

There are at hundreds of thousands of players in this game, so it's broken up into divisions with 1,000 players each (I think, I might be wrong about that number). Divisions start at 1 at the beginning of the event, up to the 200s I believe for people who join near the end. people at the very beginning are going to be more competitive, whereas people who join near the end will often be seasoned players who can complete the event in a few hours. as a newer player, I'm having the most success around the middle, in the 100s

Starting early gives you lots of time to finish the event. If you are worried about not being able to collect all 3 badges then start early.

BUT lots of strong players start early. So if you want to get a higher place (and prize) then starting later gives you a better chance.
