But if you check fairly often, you will get as many / more constellations than the constellation mission. And red dwarf can give you DW, which is the most important currency.

Also, for ease, it aligns your red dwarf mission durations, so is easier to keep track of when missions have finished.

You get quite a lot of cards from diamond geodes. They build up. And once you've maxed a trait, it stops giving you those cards. I have enough cards to fully max all remaining gold and silver (except for one which is X10 less than anything else) and lots of normals (even though I didn't rank those traits high).

(Enough to keep me busy for 3+ years? It's mutagen that's the limiting factor)
