That is to make the empty sim run nerf of the current update not outright terrible. Even so, empty sim runs now produce about 100x less metabits and knowledge than they did before (that's with the 4 new nodes included). If you have mobile that hasn't had the update yet, you might perhaps choose NOT to update, so that you can do a 21d empty sim run and get the full benefit.

14d is now the cap. double time thing still works. metabits + knowledge earnings is 100x lower WITH the new time multipliers added.. worse otherwise. entropy+ideas+xp is 100x better, again, with the new nodes. Me, I haven’t and won’t be updating, not probably until the future update that contains Ind Rev 2.

keeping the game running while not being in Primary or Reality Engine causes the time nodes in Reality Engine to run at 2x speed. Therefore. a 14d empty sim run takes only 7d in reality

Leave the game open, running in the Meso game, Beyond or Explorations. It may require Windows / Steam because mobile will shut off it's screen in a minute or so. (Or drain the battery)

Please note that the 21 days strategy requires version 43_42 (Mollusks). You can run it with the current version 44_17 but then it will be a 14 day strategy and it will work roughly 100 times less efficient as with 43_42.

Mobile works fine for it too, as long as you have the device plugged in.. but most people don’t have a spare phone/tablet they can devote to running the game 24/7 ofc. I use Steam for it (2nd Steam account) on a spare MiniPC that wasn’t doing anything important.

Also note that Steam forces updates (and thus you have to run the current update that greatly nerfs Empty Sim strat), unless you mitigate in advance. If you haven’t run Steam since about a week ago, you can do that mitigation and stay on the old version.

In general the ones that improve metabits/knowledge are much stronger than the ones that improve entropy/ideas.
1.2x metabits gives 1.2x metabits. 1.5x entropy gives much less than 1.2x metabits. Not sure how much less, but 99x ideas only got me 1.54x knowledge.

I expect they will bump the cap enough on ideas that I'll have to do additional runs to get everything.

I mean my last empty sim run I got 100x as much metabits as knowledge starting from roughly the same position (all but the last entropy/idea thing bought)

So it they reverse it for ind rev 2, it will take an upgrade cycle or two to get everything anyway.

There is a chance all these metabits become mostly useless by the time they release new content on the purple side. Months away so its difficult to know what they will do by then.

Could be worth updating while in the process of cashing in a 21 day run. Potentially double dipping to get the benefits of both a 21 day and a 14 day.

Also all the content updates so far have had stuff you can buy at much less than what the people in endgame can get from a run; so I'm figuring that's the way to bet.

I've seen people in France trying new cheeses pretty often, so after many years they could get to 2000. Maybe if you ordered them by mail and had a group to share them to split the costs you could do 6 a day, because getting 6 cheeses a day in the mail might be expensive, or hard to keep up with unless you try a bite and throw the rest away.

Badges give you a multiplier on entropy/ideas, but it's not a huge one. If you haven't finished mesozoic, high ranks in events (to get geodes) is probably super-valuable since it's hard to get the 200 gigantosaur achievement without a lot of currency. It's unclear how valuable black holes will be for beyond since we don't know if/how they will do a prestige system.
